I was lucky enough to be able to place my beautiful brother in Legacy Manor!!<br><br>It is a ***** TEN STAR ***** Assisted Living Group Home!<br><br>I sleep well at night knowing he is in the best possible hands.<br><br>The facility is impressively immaculate, every meal is gourmet and freshly prepared with the finest ingredients, the rooms are extremely comfortable, light and beautifully furnished, and there is an atmosphere of positive energy as soon as you walk in. I am no stranger to these facilities, and Golden Age goes above and beyond to ensure that their residents receive the finest care and attention possible.<br><br>There is a fabulous camaraderie amongst the team, managed by an incredible Registered Nurse, Ramona, and lead by a very seasoned Team Leader Josh, with Kenny, and Junie. They are a group of top notch Caregivers who work very hard in concert with each other to ensure every possible need of the residents is met 24 hours a day - around the clock!
My husband has Stage 4 Parkinson's and Parkinson's Dementia and has been at Legacy Manor for one year and eight months. When he was ambulatory, he could join in activities but has been bedridden for the last seven months. As his health changes, the caregivers who are on duty 24/7 have adapted to the care level he needs. It is a large facility and is always immaculate. Great care is taken to keep the residents clean, comfortable and well nourished. The staff is friendly, caring and keeps me informed. I can rest knowing my dear husband is in excellent hands.
This facility, under new ownership and new management of 4 months, is evicting my family member, after residing there for over 4 years . He is 100% disabled veteran with memory issues from traumatic brain injury, claim to offer care for seniors with memory issues, but claim our veteran " isn't a good fit". He waters and plants flowers in the backyard fills the bird feeders, with permission, and forgets to turn off the water. Uncertain why verbal reminders and supervision seems too difficult for staff to follow up and check on him. Never a problem with the previous owners. This vet can dress himself, care for his own room and belongings, and just requires some direction at times. Management does not return calls and lacks communication skills. I requested their RN to call so we can review my family member's behavior and special needs and my e mails were never returned . Previous ownership would communicate with the family as needed, to find resolutions to new problems and situations would arise. It was a team approach for the well being of our family member - this new management showed little to no tolerance nor cared to work on problem solving. Now,we are getting NO provisions for an extra grace period beyond 30 days of eviction to search for a new facility, which is difficult on a veteran's salary. Wee reside out of state, cfearing a bigger challenge. Because we are upset with this unexpected and unwarranted eviction, we are labeled as unhappy with the care provided and therefore, aren't a good match. Our warranted concerns and frustrations have labeled us as being hostile by the management. Horrible, horrible communication by administration and deplorable treatment of a senior veteran!
We toured Legacy Manor as a place for mom to live and receive the level of care she requires. We we're very impressed with the home and the staff and coming up on two months, we couldn't be happier with this choice. Within minutes of mom's arrival, one of the caregivers was helping mom with dinner while the contract and hospice nurses were doing their work. Pinki, the owner of Legacy Manor, has made it clear that their goals will always be to honor the dignity and respect for the residents rather than making decisions based on what is easiest. This came up when we asked about what clothes we should provide for mom. Pinki stressed that whatever would make mom comfortable, they would make it work.<br>After a few days, I got a hug from my sister and she said she was really happy with our choosing Legacy Manor.. Although mom hasn't been partaking of the regular meals, it is always nice to smell what's going on in the kitchen & I've asked residents if it tastes as good as it smells and always get an affirmative response and some have expressed that they are happy with the variety.<br>Many times mom has required extra care in the middle of the night and it seems like they are closely monitoring mom & providing for her needs. They have been great about ensuring that she is clean and has fresh clothing and bedding. There have been many times that the caregivers just take the time to talk with and provide comfort for mom. The Legacy Manor management and caregivers made mom and our family feel welcome and cared for from the very first day.
My father enjoyed his independent living apartment and friendships at The Heritage Tradition in Sun City West until January of this year (2019) when his health declined suddenly and, after two brief stays at Del Webb Hospital followed by a three-week stint at Grandview Rehab it became clear to my sisters and me that Dad was on his last legs. We hoped to keep him in The Heritage’s assisted living area after his discharge from Grandview Rehab but his deteriorating condition made that impossible, nor were my sisters and I capable of caring for him properly. As I began exploring possible living arrangements for him, an administrator at Grandview Rehab gave me the business card of Ms. Michelle Sayles, a Phoenix-based RN with many years of nursing and hospice care who is now in the business of helping people find good places for their moms and dads who are nearing the end of their lives. I called Michelle and she agreed to meet with me the following day so she could gain an understanding of Dad’s situation, to actually meet and visit with Dad, and to discuss options with us. Dad was unable to hear and follow much of what was being said so he simply said “I trust you’ll do what’s best.” I already had Dad’s power of attorney but those words at that moment freed me to truly place myself in his stead and proceed to act in his behalf with complete confidence. Anyway, Michelle had clearly been in this same situation many, many times before and was able to communicate ideas and possibilities with clarity and compassion. Michelle then took me on a tour of a number of assisted living group homes in the northwest valley (in Surprise and Peoria, AZ) and as we made our way to Legacy Manor Assisted Living she told me a little about the owner of the place, Ms. Pinki Dhillon, with whom we would be meeting. As Michelle took me through those assisted living group homes that day, she was thoroughly professional and impartial in her demeanor and presentation of each place and the many various facts she relayed to me about each, but as we approached Legacy Manor Assisted Living Michelle told me she was on very friendly terms with Pinki Dhillon. What Michelle said, if I remember correctly, is “Pinki is a very special individual.” Well, I met Pinki and immediately understood what Michelle had meant. That day, for many reasons, I made the decision to move Dad into Legacy Manor Assisted Living, and my three sisters and I now agree that doing so was one of the best decisions of our lives. Yes, the food at Legacy Manor Assisted Living is very good; much of it is homemade, fresh, and quite tasty (I ate it several times). Yes, the facility is clean, comfortable and secure. Yes, Pinki is professional, proficient, competent, and oh so nice. Yes, Legacy Manor Assisted Living checked all the boxes when it came to governmental regulatory oversight. But through that whole selection experience and in the months that followed, my sisters and I learned that nothing is more important in an assisted living group home than great management coupled with great caregivers. I’m talking about the men and women who prepare the schedules and enforce the house rules and prepare the food, and care for and clean and interact constantly with the elderly residents. In all these ways, Pinki Dhillon and Legacy Manor Assisted Living hit a grand slam. Seriously great care! And what is more important than THAT, I ask? Dad passed away at age 94 after just two and a half months at Legacy Manor Assisted Living. He was visited almost daily by one of my sisters or me (I live in Pennsylvania so I only saw him there a few times) and we all witnessed firsthand how Pinki and her house manager and their caregiver team truly did care for Dad. One month after Dad passed away our family assembled in Phoenix to hold a memorial service for Dad and it was no surprise to us that Michelle Sayles, Pinki Dhillon and even one of Pinki’s caregivers were in attendance. What more could we have wanted for Dad than for him to spend his last days with people who truly cared for him?!
