My mom lived in the memory care unit for a years. I couldn't afford the cross country trip to see her as often as I liked to in her final years and the staff always made sure I could talk her on the phone when I felt homesick.. When I did visit they were very kind and helpful. When it was time to put her into hospice the day and night staff were the kindest gentleness people a son could hope for in treating her in her final days.

A friend of mine has her brother here. Apparently his son and the staff are not letting the man's own sister take him out because he feels uncomfortable there and hates being there. The son says his dad is not able to make his own decisions when clearly he is. They won't let him leave. My friend is beside herself trying to get him out of there. Horrible place.

In the locked Alzheimer’s unit, it never smelled because trash bags were always tied up and taken out immediately, so it was the best smelling place. The people in the Alzheimer’s unit do a great job. They truly care about their patients.
