Yeah, it’s a wonderful place. It’s clean that’s for sure. The food is magnificent. That’s for sure but you just have some staff. I feel take advantage of the aging seniors. I’ve watched a senior being manipulated out of her car because she was no longer driving like that should be illegal. I’ve also seen the staff pick up private duty, taking care of them people and really taking advantage of their money. I’ve watched it myself very unfortunate like they’re making a lot of money doing private duty for them and paying no taxes which means they’re really not insured either.

My mother truly loved her time at Laurelmead Independent Living, and as her daughter, I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming or enriching community for her.

From the moment she moved in, she was surrounded by warmth, friendship, and opportunity. The grounds are absolutely beautiful — especially the peaceful wooded area in the back, where she enjoyed walking and spending quiet time in nature. Inside, the gathering spaces are inviting and thoughtfully designed, making it easy for residents to connect, relax, and feel at home.

One of the things she appreciated most was how intellectually and socially engaging life at Laurelmead is. She looked forward to the regular educational talks, musical performances, movie nights, and the many activities that kept each week interesting and fulfilling. There was always something to enjoy, but never any pressure — just a wonderful sense of community.

The dining experience was another highlight. The dining room is lovely, and she genuinely enjoyed the wide variety of menu choices and the quality of the meals. Dining became a social event she looked forward to every day.

Most importantly, she made deep and lasting friendships there. Laurelmead gave her not just a place to live, but a vibrant community where she felt connected, stimulated, and happy.

Our family is so grateful for the caring environment and the joyful years she experienced at Laurelmead. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone considering independent living for themselves or a loved one.

Stunning facility and that’s where it ends. The maintenance staff stand around the front desk loudly verbally degrading the residents (“why the hell am I called up to change a lightbulb”!) The staff at the café intimidate the residents, to the point that some are afraid to just sit down without ringing the bell. Today is an icy cold day despite the fact that every other walkway on the Butler campus is clear, LaurelMead is not clear and leaves their residents to walk on the street. The dinners are poor to mediocre at best. If you are considering Lauremead for a loved one, and are hoping for a warm, supportive environment, consider a different facility.
