I would recommend this place in a heartbeat! I’ve been here a handful of times to visit a friend and every time I go it’s sparkling clean and the staff are friendly. The grounds are well maintained and the lake in the back is a peaceful quiet place to relax when the weather is nice.
The interior is updated and they have beautiful seasonal decorations-not just the main lobby, but all of the common areas.
During one of my visits, a staff member came in to the room. Not only was she sweet and friendly, but she spoke to my friend as if she knew him her whole life an genuinely cared about him. She even knew the names of his kids and what he liked to order for lunch each day.
They have a daily calendar of fun activities and other stuff to like puzzles and games available to the residents 24/7.
I also spoke with a different resident and she had been living here for 7 years and loves it. Theres a van/shuttle available to escort the residents to other places they need to go. I’ve visited a lot of senior living facilities and this is the nicest I’ve seen. 1000 gold star review!

My aunt has lived here for many years, and she LOVES it! For one thing, it's family owned, and the owners genuinely care about their residents. They took excellent care of everyone during COVID.

The staff are conscientious, friendly to everyone, and are constantly organizing parties for every occasion, from celebrating holidays to watching major sporting events. Town Hall meetings give residents a voice in their community and care.

This is not a nursing home. Residents largely care for themselves. And they look out for each other! (Every bedroom and bathroom has an emergency button, and residents can wear one around their necks. Housekeeping and some nursing help is available at additional cost.)

The residents socialize with each other quite a bit, especially at meal times. They also have a number of ongoing card and board game groups, and they can work on shared puzzles for hours. A shuttle bus provides safe transportation to shopping and some events. Each floor has a couple of common areas and porches where residents can hang out and drink coffee with friends and family. Many units have second bedrooms with private bathrooms for guests (or roommates), and there are also furnished apartments visitors can rent.

At the same time, it's quiet. The view of the lake is calming. Residents who choose to can keep to themselves. Full kitchens give them the option of making their own food and eating alone if they want to.

LSV isn't fancy, but it's very clean, well-maintained, and more affordable than some. My aunt feels safe and at home there. I would highly recommend anyone considering assisted living in the Baton Rouge area to take a look.

Mom has lived here at Lake Sherwood Village for 7 years now. She loves it ! She plays bingo most days and takes a walk every late afternoon. The staff here are really nice and friendly. There are always great parties for different holidays as well as entertainment 1 Thursday every month for residents who have a birthday within that month. The back porch looks out to a Lake so it’s a perfect place to sit out on a nice evening and enjoy visiting.
I would recommend Lake Sherwood to anyone looking for Independent living without having to cook your own meals😀

My wife and I moved in about 1 year ago. We have a two bedrooom apartment which is quite roomy and very nice. The residents and staff are very friendly and helpful. We think the food is quite good and there are plenty of activities (Including fishing in a stocked lake). We have recommended LSV to several of our friends.
