My aunt was sent there from Cedars to rehab from an infection. She was there for a week and passed away from a sudden drop in her blood pressure. Do your research, do not send loved ones there! I'm still grieving

5 stars all around. I am SO pleased with Kennedy Care center. We were in dire need to get my father into a rehab facility following an episode where he suddenly lost the function in his legs. Kaiser was trying to force us into their horrific partnered facilities and I was absolutely not going to have my father stay there. He wasn't going to get better would have only gotten worse. I took it upon myself to go to Kennedy Care as it's right by my place, and was met with nothing but kindness and an urgency to help. Jasmine who is the general manager advocated for us to get into the facility and was incredibly helpful and generous with her time- she took my call on a weekend.<br><br>The entire staff at Kennedy Care were so attentive to my father and I couldn't be more grateful. He was in this facility for two weeks and was so well taken care of that when it came time to go back home, he was so emotional and grateful for the care he received. The PT team were SO wonderful and patient as my father has dementia- they really took their time and care with him and I'm so thankful!<br><br>The staff are friendly, kind, encouraging and just want to do what they can to keep your loved ones safe, active and taken care of. I was really pleased at the cleanliness of the facility and attention to detail and care. Upon my father's first day we had about 3 nurses come by to check in with him and see how he was settling in. His nurse Lady was such a star and so kind and gentle to him. Emmanuel treated him for a wound he had on his leg which was good as new by the time we left. Valerie was kind enough to connect me to my father every night when I called to say goodnight. Brenda, Liz, Ruby, Brandon and Julia were all SO wonderful to work with, and Justin always greeted me so pleasantly every day when I came in to see my father. My family felt at ease having him recover here and he came back better than ever.<br><br>I cannot thank this facility enough for their outstanding attention to our matter when we needed help the most. They were ready and willing to fight for us if we needed to request more time for recovery as well. Highly HIGHLY recommend!<br><br>Thank you for EVERYTHING Kennedy Care team! The Lodhy family will never forget how well you took care of our father!

My brother-in-law stayed there to get rehabilitated from an injury and they constantly lost his medication and there was pee on the floors and in the bathrooms. It was disgusting and dirty. They treated him poorly and would definitely ignore patients. It was gross and disgusting.

A Disturbing Experience: Obstacles to Discharge and Disregard for Patient Rights at Kennedy Care Center My family recently had a deeply disturbing experience at Kennedy Care Center. My grandfather was admitted for short-term rehabilitation after a minor head injury. He arrived medically stable and walking, yet he was kept there for nearly seven weeks despite repeatedly expressing his desire to return home. The atmosphere felt like an invisible barrier trapping residents inside. The persistent administrative pressure to remain, combined with the constant obstacles placed in the way of leaving, made the situation incredibly troubling—especially given how seamlessly his previous discharge had been handled by the emergency room. Here is what any family considering this facility should know: Obstacles to Discharge: When I previously took my grandfather home from Cedars-Sinai, the process was straightforward. At Kennedy Care Center, however, staff repeatedly acted as though taking him home was improper or unauthorized. They claimed I lacked authority because I was not next of kin, insisted they needed approval from a "responsible party," and told us we had to wait indefinitely for a doctor because discharge might be "unsafe." Weaponizing "Medical Advice": Instead of respecting my grandfather's right to make decisions about his own care, the administrator questioned why we "didn't care about medical advice" and pressured us heavily to keep him at the facility. Flippant and Passive Staff: I asked the social worker to contact his doctor to verify if he would allow discharge in his current condition. More than a week later, she still had no answer, flippantly claiming she had "no control" over when the doctor would call back. In the meantime, my grandfather languished in the facility while staff continued providing conflicting explanations. Disregard of Power of Attorney (POA): The facility declined to recognize my General Power of Attorney, which Cedars-Sinai had previously accepted without issue. Staff instead asserted that my father was the primary decision-maker simply because he was a closer relative. A valid POA does not depend on family hierarchy. Questionable Capacity Determinations: Staff claimed that my grandfather lacked the mental capacity to make his own decisions and assigned a "responsible party" to override him. However, they never provided us with the results of any formal legal judgment or medical evaluation supporting that conclusion. Conflicting Statements and False Claims: When I attempted to take my grandfather home against medical advice (AMA)—which is a patient's legal right—staff threatened to call the police. Later, I personally witnessed his physician issue a discharge order from his office, yet the facility still refused to release him. They falsely claimed that Adult Protective Services (APS) had prevented the discharge. When we contacted APS directly, they confirmed this was completely untrue. According to CANHR's "Your Right to Leave Guide," residents retain the legal right to leave at any time and a facility cannot override a physician's discharge order. Severe Decline in Physical Condition: My grandfather entered the facility walking. By the time he finally returned home, he was wheelchair-bound and too weak to stand without assistance. Selective Marketing vs. Reality: The facility prominently advertises its "5-Star Quality Measures" rating, but prospective residents should know that Medicare assigned it a 1-Star Health Inspection rating. This was not our first experience with lengthy delays at this facility, as a previous stay also extended well beyond the discharge date. Based on our experiences, we became deeply concerned that financial factors, rather than patient welfare, were contributing to these delays. I cannot recommend Kennedy Care Center. We felt pressured, misled, and powerless at a time when dignity and respect should have been paramount. No family should have to fight so hard simply to honor a loved one's wishes and bring them home.
