Katherine Brown Home

The Katherine Brown Home is an intermediate-care facility in Rockland, Maine, serving individuals with intellectual disabilities. Designed specifically for people who use wheelchairs, the home provides intensive assisted living for up to eight residents.

The facility focuses on helping residents achieve self-determination and independence by working on skills in communication, self-care, mobility, and basic task performance. Staff support residents in developing and maintaining the abilities needed for as much independent living as possible.

The home is part of Coastal Opportunities, a larger organization that operates multiple residential services across five Knox County communities including Camden, Rockport, Rockland, Thomaston, and Owls Head. The Katherine Brown Home was named to honor Katherine True Brown, a longtime board member of Coastal Opportunities whose dedication supported the organization's mission.
