I’m in this facility about once a week, and I’ve learned that the true test of a person’s character isn’t when things are going well—it’s when life gets difficult and you see how they respond.

Today I watched Nekentra, one of the nurses, as she was preparing medications. She has such a kind and gentle demeanor. A resident, after being told his medication was ready, thoroughly cursed her out. Her response—or rather, her refusal to respond negatively—should be written into the history of this facility as an example of grace and professionalism.

Loretta, The Activities Director is always finding ways to make things fun. She interacts well she gives them fun things to do that are always creative.I’m also continually impressed with Alex, the administrator, who takes the time to genuinely connect with the residents. The nursing staff treats the residents like family.

These people have an incredibly difficult job, and they do it because they truly care about others. If you have a loved one here, or if you visit this facility, take a moment to honor and encourage them. They deserve it.
