Celebrating The Jennings Legacy

Our namesake is a memorial to Monsignor Gilbert P. Jennings. Monsignor Jennings was the founding pastor of St. Agnes Parish, then located on Superior Avenue near the old Cleveland Playhouse. Considered to be a socially progressive thinker, Monsignor Jennings was truly a visionary in meeting the needs of his people.

Upon his death on April 17, 1941, Monsignor Jennings gave life to a new era of senior care. Having inherited a large sum of money from the estate of his brother, Monsignor Jennings designated in his will that a rest home be built. His vision was to provide safe, comfortable and affordable housing for aging citizens who would not otherwise be able to provide for themselves with a suitable home. What has evolved in his memory is a campus community with a full continuum of care, services and progressive programs that inspire and celebrate life.

Monsignor Jennings legacy of love continues today through the steadfast dedication of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit, as well as the generous hearts and hands of our staff, volunteers and benefactors. By bringing together the sights, sounds and traditions of neighborhood, family and faith, we remain true to Monsignor Jennings vision of a vibrant and compassionate community with the familiar feeling of home.

I hope this reaches the right people. This place was the best thing I could have found for my dad. My father, José Miguel Torres Serrano, spent his last year of life here, and everyone treated him like family. The hospice team was truly the best of the best. They helped me so much with everything related to my dad’s care.

My dad passed away in January 2026, and they still continue to call me and provide me with support. I am beyond grateful. They were all angels for my dad and for our family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 🙏🙏

This facility is horrible. They NEVER have enough staff. They NEVER have what's on the menu. Residents don't receive help when needed.

I called the Jennings nursing home today 10/30/25. The receptionist was the most unprofessional person that I've encountered in a very long time. She was rude, nasty, unhelpful and very short with her responses. And on top of all that, she transferred me to the wrong department. When I called back she didn't answer the phone. I had to call back a second and third time and she still didn't answer. I feel sorry for anyone who has loved ones here.

I hope this message gets to the right people. I wanted to personally thank these amazing staff members on the Rehab floor: Danielle; Darby; Brandon; Christian; Kula; Dee; Dominic; the RN nursing supervisor; Dorothy; Arlin; and anyone I may have missed. (if so i'm sorry!) Your kindness and care and sweet personalities will NEVER be forgotten! You made a very tough situation a little bit easier to deal with because of the kindness you showed my Dad while he was on the Rehab floor as well as to the attentiveness to us, as his family. Your names and beautiful faces will never be forgotten and will ALWAYS be appreciated. THANK YOU for all you did for us and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

My mother, under hospice care, was a resident in skilled nursing for 7 months. The hospice people were great. Although there were Jennings employees who took good care of my mom, the ones who didn't ruined my opinion of the facility. My wife went to visit my mom one day and couldn't find her. She eventually was able to locate her sitting in a common TV room without any other people around. No other residents. No employees. No call button if she needed help. We purchased a pad for my mom's Broda chair seat, because she wasn't comfortable. The staff said that they would place it under her right after lunch. I stopped in 4 hours later and she was not sitting on the pad. I had to look for someone to find out why and found two aids sitting in the corner of a room looking at their phones. They came up with with a lame excuse why they didn't help my mom. My mom fell in her room once, was not injured, but it took 8 hours before the staff notified me. When I inquired about the delay, I was told it was because I stated that I didn't want to be called in the middle of the night. That is not true. Plus, she fell at 6:00 in the morning. The Hoyer style lift in my mom's room was broken during the last week of her life, even though I was told that maintenance would take care of it. Because of this broken equipment my mom had to be lifted from her bed and chair by two employees, which I know caused her pain. I saw her cry when they were doing so. One of the nurses once told me that they referred to my mom as "The nicest of the crazies." Really? Finally, one of the employees there told me not to leave any money in mom's room because it would probably disappear. Wow. The photo is of the broken lift, taken days after my mom died, when we were removing personal belongings from her room. Still broken after 10 days.
