James Lenox House

James Lenox House Association provides independent and assisted living housing to older adults in two residences on Manhattan's Upper East Side in New York. Founded at the end of the Civil War by the prominent Lenox family to provide safe housing for war widows, the organization continues as a donor-supported not-for-profit focused on offering affordable, safe, secure housing with quality supportive services for those age 55 and older.

The association operates two properties: James Lenox House on East 73rd Street, which offers independent housing, and Carnegie East House near East 95th Street, which provides enhanced services to those needing help with daily living. Both communities are part of the Mitchell-Lama Housing Program and serve those seeking affordably priced housing with health-centric support.

The organization is led by Executive Director Joe Girven and supported by a dedicated Board and caring staff committed to serving the community of older adults. Both the Houses and their leadership have been recognized for excellence in the nonprofit sector.
