I left a voice mail on 07/05/24 to inquire about receiving home care. A woman called me to let me know the person who handles what I was looking for would call the next week. On 07/10/24, a different woman returned my call and after discussing my needs, she said she would call me the next day, but she never called back. I also emailed them on 07/17/24 reminding them that I was still waiting for a return call, and that email received no response. It is now 07/26/24, and I hired a different provider this week. I can only hope other potential clients receive better treatment.

Does Medicare cover care from Hometown Care?

Yes. Hometown Care is a Medicare-certified home health agency, so Medicare Part A or Part B pays in full for skilled nursing, therapy and home health aide visits when a doctor orders them and the patient is homebound. There is no copay for covered home health visits. Medicare rates the agency's quality of patient care 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Do I need a referral to use Hometown Care?

For Medicare to pay, yes: a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant must certify that care is needed and sign a plan of care. Ongoing help with bathing, meals and companionship is a different service, non-medical home care, which needs no referral.
