My Dad was transitioning from another facility, and the attention to detail and staff care is amazing! I am very appreciative of the level of empathy and kindness of staff and residences. Katie Davis & Lori Gordon; and the whole staff go above and beyond at all times. Their professionalism gives me peace of mind regarding my Dad’s care.

Mom moved in about three months ago, and my sisters and I couldn’t be happier with the decision we made for her. A few years ago she had a negative experience at another facility and always said she would never go to a senior living community again. But she was struggling at home, and from the very first phone call with the team at Heritage to the tour we took, we knew this was different and that we needed to get her there as soon as possible. We put her name on the waiting list, and when we got the call that an apartment had opened up, we were thrilled. Mom was a little hesitant at first, but from the beginning she ended up loving it. She has truly gotten a new life there. She’s like a different person, so happy and with so much purpose. She’s made many friends and feels like she’s part of a real community. Every time she calls me in the morning, she sounds like a new person. Everyone there is so warm and caring, from the other residents to every single staff member. Our family feels incredibly grateful and blessed that she’s there.

Brookdale Penn Hills (edit) I'm editing my review to reflect the fact that everyone at Brookdale Pen Hills with the possible exception of one has been notably helpful, polite and friendly. My early review was based on the fact that I have been IMO both baited and switched and gouged. My opinion about that has not changed. They did raise mu mother's fees almost the moment my mother moved in, knowing I would be reluctant to make her move again. They also still have a $500 monthly fee for getting supplies which I am able to do in about fifteen minutes a month, which surely is price gouging. If you want to charge an extra 500 a month, that's up to you. But don't charge one thing and come back with a fee you pressure people into paying that amounts to $500 for 15 minutes work. I'm responsible for my mother not being taken advantage of. Why should I have to fight to see that doesn't happen? In any case, the very person I held most responsible has since been really helpful, kind and polite and I'm inclined to weigh that about equally with my earlier, really very bad, experience. I hope they will continue to be conscientious and sensitive about caring for my mother.
