I placed a younger adult that I am power of attorney of at Heritage Gardens NF. She transferred from a building in Topeka that was closing. They made the transition easy for me and welcoming for her. The care that she has received has been wonderful and the communication is great. She is a younger adult that needs lots of attention and support and I believe that they are meeting that need very well. She hasn't had the best life but she seems so much happier than before. I can't thank them enough.

Staff are doing well, especially under the new Administration. She is a caring and compassionate person. Staff are friendly. They are striving to make sure that your family is well taken care of and enjoying their time at the facility. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a place for their loved ones.

My husband is a resident on the secure wing at Heritage Gardens. The nurses are fabulous with him, and always telling me how much they all love him. The administrative staff goes above and beyond when providing me with assistance. I couldn’t be any happier knowing he is safe and well cared for.

Please never leave a loved one in this facility! My father was placed here for rehab due to it being close to his home. It was a terrible experience. This facility is filthy. The floors had some kind of dirt on them when he checked in. The linens on his bed and the other bed in the room were stained. (See pictures.) There are no televisions in the rooms and in the 5 days he was there, no activities. The bed my dad had was adjustable only by crank and there was no place in the room to sit outside the bed for him except for a folding metal chair in the closet. The staff was thin and my father had to do most things for himself. Outside of providing medication, he seldom saw any staff. He had to do all bathroom trips alone. His roommate, (there are no private rooms) fell the first night and it was my father who had to get help for him. He ended up having to go back to the hospital and never returned before we had my father moved. That was clearly a major fall. Every time we went to visit there were residents left sleeping in the common areas for hours on end. They were all alone and ignored. After my dad’s primary care physician visited him in the facility, she let us know that her recommendation was to either move him to another rehab in Topeka if possible, or at least move him back home. I think it speaks volumes that his doctor felt it was better for my dad to possibly lose out on the rehabilitation therapy all together than to stay at Heritage Gardens. Please learn from our mistake and save your loved one this experience….choose another facility!
