I worked with Ann Bell at this facility to move my mom from another facility to pioneer ridge assisted living. The facility is beautiful and rooms are nice. Ann went the extra mile to work with us and answer all our questions. The facility was all about being loved. We were all set to move my mom in later this week. But, unfortunately her health took a downturn and she passed away before she could move in. You will not find another facility that will work with you more than Ann will.

My father is currently at Pioneer Ridge. I live nearly 200 miles away and anytime I have a question, I can NEVER reach the staff, which is beyond frustrating. Their phone numbers don't have voicemail so the numbers just ring and ring... and then it hangs up. You would think that paying the outrageous amount of money in that we're paying to this facility each month, we could at least reach the staff when we need to speak with them. VERY frustrating and un-professional. Looking to move my dad to a facility closer to me ASAP!!

My mom had a brief stay here in her final days. They were not easy. The staff was very accommodating and made sure that her needs were met and she was not in any pain. They jumped through a lot of hoops for her, swapping out beds numerous times until they found one that was comfortable, taking care of her physical and mental wellbeing at all hours of the night, offering to do her hair, massage her feet, and just generally making sure she still felt like a human and not just an account or, as some folks in hospice can feel, like a burden. I liked that the residents here have their own 1-bedroom apartments and not just a cold stone square like some places. Felt very homey. The remote help caller the residents can carry with them is also superior to the 'string pull' set up at other homes that limit calls for help to a couple of corners of the room. One nit-pick was that the place is fairly expensive, as is all around-the-clock senior care, and after mom passed it took a bit to get a refund back for a not-insignificant about of money. An extra stressor when you're dealing with funeral costs, etc. But at that point you're dealing with the corporate offices that own the facility, not the healthcare providers themselves. As for the folks that work here I have nothing but kind and appreciative words to say about them, and would recommend this facility for anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation with a loved one.

The management team and staff here are amazing and made us feel as though we were among family. Thank you for everything you all did to try to help us make this transition for our mother.

Things to know: This is one of if not THE most expensive place in Lawrence or the state of Kansas. You would assume the care would reflect that. You would be wrong.
