REVIEW PRIMARILY FOR SERIOUS CHRISTians (who biblically love Jesus)
Two warm meals which are good tasting; canned fruit mainly; dessert with both meals; cold “continental breakfast.” Each apt, though, has a kitchen with stove and refrigerator. Hard-working, respectful, young maintenance man who cares for more than one facility. Aides are quickly responsive. Walk-in shower with several hand-grasp bars. Showering assistance if needed. Aides overall respectful. Helpful, friendly cleaning young lady weekly. Activities: Van present but driver is needed for any activities away from facility. Board games, BIngo, cards, and puzzles available. A few crafts at this moment. Large screen TV with Spectrum channels currently in 2 small guest areas. WiFi in all rooms. Computer available for residents. Pay-for print-outs.

Sadly, most people today may not care about this: Many not very friendly toward biblcal CHRISTians (“you’re so weird, everyone out there thinks you’re strange” tho ppl talk to you anyway.” etc) Just be prepared, and seriously prayerful.

Thursday chapel service by Lutheran lady leader. Young manager. No person-person resident conflict resolution.

Expect gossip/slander. Some add’l insults to conservative voters. When troublemakers complain, some staff occasionally will not be able to discern who is telling truth and who seeks affection by creating drama. [Knowing Word of GOD, esp. Proverbs, would be helpful ~ “Lean not on your own understanding” and “Spouting off without knowing both sides/all the facts/is folly and shame”] CHRISTians have shared that this is common in places where emotionally ill are inactive most of their time, and not familiar with Bible. 🙏🏻 Some retaliatory behaviors may occur; just the way it is in a fallen world. NO audible prayer. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

A young Baptist pastor’s wife from Galesville has been coming ~ for free! ~ at lunchtime twice monthly to play beautiful music for here and for the memory facility across the street. (If people only knew the wonderful words that go with the songs!). Uplifting!

You need to understand is that anyone seeking to live in care facilities needs to realize that all residents naturally have some kind of disability, physical-spiritual-mental-emotional.🤨 Some of this isnt thought of when a parent’s needs are all that are looking to be met. It is a much better experience for residents when family are nearby AND frequently visit. Most of older folks spent much of their lives raising the next generation, some alone; taking care of a home, some working outside the home, some even walking or biking to TWO OR MORE jobs. It seems, to me, these deserve respect, not just existence and assumptions of inexperienced, young staff who does not knowing facts of matters between residents (dealt with in Proverbs 18:13 of the Word of God, in case someone cares) … not deserving of silent treatment retaliation for something only God knows … and is not afforded the opportunity to face the accuser(s) in the presence of either mgmt, with witnesses if any, because an accuser does not like someone, not that anything wrong was done) and needing attention and love no matter what it takes to get it, even slander… “oh everyone does that.” Just in my old-fashioned opinion ~ meetings requested with mgr and accuser to discern facts correctly will be denied because the accuser “isn’t comfortable with that.”

Kind, caring, old-fashioned feelings of community was once upon a time precious ~ and healthy. NOW that is missing, limited in all care facilities by Obamacare HIPAA rules prohibiting staff from saying anything about a resident neighbor or friend being suddenly absent from the dining room, the only place some are ever seen. 😢

Im told it used to be different “before covid.” IF YOU CAN DRIVE A MULTI-PERSON ACTIVITY BUS, COME SEE MGR KAYLEE!

Finally, You must have the strength to ignore a possible, occasional, bizarre resident accusation for a nice tradition from “the olden days”… circulating a greeting card among residents for birthdays, get-well, sympathy, etc.
