About Heartland Hospice

Heartland Hospice in Warrenton, Virginia provides hospice care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, including end-stage heart disease, COPD, Alzheimer's disease, ALS, and cancer. The service offers 24/7 support to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Care is delivered by teams of physicians, nurses, social workers, volunteers, hospice aides, and chaplains. The hospice works closely with patients and families to develop personalized care plans focused on pain management and comfort. Most patients receive care in their own homes, though care can also be provided at a relative's or friend's home, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or hospitals when specialized medical assistance is needed.

Emotional and spiritual support are central to the service. Professional grief counseling is available for both patients and loved ones during end-of-life care. The hospice also offers bereavement services and care for spiritual needs brought on by life-limiting illness, with professional counselors and social workers providing support to families for up to 13 months after a patient's passing.

Caregiver support is available through short-term relief services for family members who need time to rest and recharge. The hospice honors veterans through the "We Honor Veterans" program, which includes respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and acknowledgment of military service, along with care teams trained to meet the unique needs of veterans and their families.

Hospice care is covered under the Medicare Hospice Benefit, most Medicaid plans, and many private insurance plans, with coverage typically including medications, medical supplies, and medical equipment. Patients are free to leave hospice care at any time if their condition improves or they wish to pursue curative treatment.

My sister was in care of this horrible place. The night before my sister died I called a total of 4 time to send a nurse. Whats the point of the 24/7 nurse hotline if no one was gonna show up. They made this experience horrible.
