Beth and Kristy are honestly amazing. They come to help with my client’s baths and they are always so kind, patient, and respectful. You can tell they truly care about what they do and not just going through the motions. They make what could be an uncomfortable situation feel calm and handled with dignity every time. They’re gentle, reliable, and pay attention to the little things, which really makes a difference. It’s not easy work at all, but they show up with a good attitude and treat my client so well. We really appreciate everything they do and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing hospice care.

I rate all heartland hospice nurses/CNAs 5 stars. Debra was the nurse working with me today at the nursing home for a resident. She was passionate, selfless, caring, and supportive. She took her time to order refills and stayed there for the family/patient for all questions and support.

I feel compelled to share my experience so that families considering this hospice provider can make an informed decision during an already difficult and emotional time. In my experience, the company appears to be significantly understaffed, which unfortunately seems to directly impact the quality and consistency of care patients receive. Rather than having a consistent nurse assigned to the patient, multiple nurses rotated through the case. This lack of continuity made it very difficult for the patient and family to develop a trusting relationship with a primary nurse and limited the ability for any one nurse to fully understand the patient’s condition, needs, and changes over time. Communication was also a serious concern. There was little to no proactive communication with family members or caregivers regarding updates, care plans, or changes in the patient’s condition. Hospice care should involve strong coordination and communication with those who are closely involved in a patient’s daily care, and unfortunately that was lacking. There were also repeated issues with basic care logistics. Requests for necessary medical supplies were not consistently fulfilled in a timely manner, and there were occasions where scheduled aides did not arrive for bathing assistance. Situations like this place additional strain on family members and caregivers who are already navigating a very difficult time. Additionally, the professionalism and capability of some staff members raised concerns. One nurse was noticeably rude and dismissive in her interactions, which is especially troubling in a hospice setting where compassion and sensitivity are essential. Another nurse appeared physically unable to complete basic patient assessments that required standing or hands-on evaluation, which further raised concerns about the level of care being provided. Hospice care should represent the highest standard of compassion, dignity, reliability, and communication during one of the most vulnerable times in a person’s life. Families place enormous trust in hospice providers to ensure their loved ones are comfortable, supported, and treated with respect. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect the level of organization, professionalism, or consistency that hospice care should provide. I sincerely hope the organization takes these concerns seriously and works to address staffing, communication, and care coordination so that future patients and families receive the quality of care they deserve.

The entire team at Heartland Hospice of Monroe exceeded our very high expectations during my mother in laws recent end of life journey. We were familiar with the team from their work in a memory care facility so we knew they were professional but we were so impressed with the personal and caring service from start to finish. Julie, Beth and Kristi consistently went out of their way to provide personal and loving care and advice, and every other person who filled in for them treated us the same. It was a very difficult and emotional time but the people at Heartland made all that so much easier. Thank you Randy and team!
