About Heartland Hospice

Heartland Hospice in Marion, Indiana offers hospice care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, including end-stage heart disease, COPD, Alzheimer's disease, ALS, and cancer. The service provides 24/7 support to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

The hospice team, composed of physicians, nurses, social workers, volunteers, hospice aides, and chaplains, develops personalized care plans addressing pain management through multiple approaches beyond medication alone. Patients typically choose to receive care in the comfort of their own home, though care can also be provided at a relative's or friend's home, assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital if specialized medical assistance is needed.

Emotional and spiritual support are central to the service. The team offers professional grief counseling for patients and families, bereavement services for those questioning their beliefs, and spiritual care tailored to individual faith traditions. Professional counselors and social workers provide support to families for up to 13 months after a loved one's passing.

Heartland Hospice also provides caregiver relief services, allowing family members time to rest and recharge while caring for someone with a life-limiting illness. The organization honors veterans through its "We Honor Veterans" program, which includes veteran-specific admission information and care teams trained to address the unique needs of veterans and their families.

As part of the Gentiva family of providers, Heartland Hospice serves patients across more than 375 locations in 36 states. The organization accepts referrals from anyone and works with patients' physicians to determine hospice appropriateness. Most hospice costs are covered under the Medicare Hospice Benefit, Medicaid plans, and many private insurance plans.

The staff at Heartland Hospice, from social workers to nurses to office workers, were incredibly supportive to our family as we navigated the last few months of my father's life. They were available at all times of the day and night and provided excellent care to my dad and our whole family. Their expertise and kindness made a huge difference to our family.

The staff at Heartland Hospice is truly amazing. We could not have asked for a better nurse for my mother in law in her last days with us. Lisa was very personable and explained everything and answered any questions we had. It takes very special people to do what she and the staff at Heartland do for families and ours will be forever grateful.

We wouldn't have been able to keep our mom at home without this company. The nurse was so knowledgeable and kind. She came and seen mom several times a week and whenever we called her. The home health aide was very nice and caring. We strongly recommend this hospice to care for your loved one
