I was taken there by ambulance while in er my husband brought my emotional support pet in an enclosed stroller. He was denied entrance because he had my service pet. He explained the situation and my dogs status if service animal. He was told to leave and the nurse was very rude called security after the security guard searched my dogs back pack and stroller and my husband they were told to leave. When I was moved to the room I was admitted to they also denied my pet from entering. Small town hospital violated my civil rights. The staff while I was there had some good nurses but Maribel (nurse) was very rude, bossy and was always yelling across the hallways to patients or other staff to the point where I had to ask them to close my door so I could rest. Peggy (nurse) was rude to me as well and was insisting I wore a knee brace that was too tight and hurt my double fractured knee. I advised when I get back to bed I would put it on. I had a smaller, lighter one on while in restroom only. Peggy, Maribel and another nurse all stood in front of the open bathroom door and didn’t want to close it while I was trying to use restroom. I asked the kind nurse, Kay to please close the door a bit to give me privacy. Peggy stormed off and her and Maribel told other nurses I didn’t want to cooperate and to put my hospital bed alarm on. Also, Andrew charge nurse was in my room when I woke up looking through my personal belongings bags in the dark, when I woke up asked are you my nurse he said no, didn’t give me his name or a reason why he was there. I asked him to please ask my nurse to come in. I described color of scrubs, hair and look, age to Peggy and Maribel and they said Andrew charge nurse was the only one that had those color scrubs on. Honestly, I’ll never go there again. Bad bad service and care at this hospital.
ve been there so I want to clarify that this is for the sheer incompetence that occupies the front desk of the ER. How inept must you be at your job to fail so miserably in such a consistent basis, is it a lack of training, job knowledge, or just lack of empathy that drives this terrible customer service provided by all of the front desk staff. On every single interaction I have had with this facility this staff has consistently failed to adequately annotate my insurance information and so after dealing with a high stress visit to the ER I get to re-live the stress receiving billing information at an out of pocket cost. I provide all information from the onset but it then becomes my job again to provide all information due to your lack of intelligence and capacity to do the one thing you are responsible for. Your lack of competence in this simplistic role is just astounding. I hope your family does not need emergency medical services or treatment because this place is nothing short of a failure that pulls down a great medical team with great bedside manner.
2026 January 18 12:14 pm, and I am posting this review from the waiting room I was placed in. Check out the picture. Ok, so I got here almost an hour ago, but I was checked in rather quickly. Forms, pshhh. Too easy! I filled out more forms and more complicated forms than these simple consent to receive text and emails regarding my visit and that's great. I'm an Army veteran that served in O.I.F( operation Iraqi freedom for you who don't know) in 2006. I saw better staff with half the technology treat and discharge soldiers faster than here. But, I was also born in this hospital back in 1984. I was born healthy, by the grace of God, and my mother was also ok after. So, if Hazel Hawkins was able to achieve this in the early 80's, for me to be born, I have to support this hospital. I agree that there are long times to be seen. And the influx of people coming and going, is random. By using my best judgement, I go when I believe I will be seen soon because I go at times I believe not a lot of people go to the hospital ER. Does it work all the time? No, nope. I've also had to sit and wait to be seen. Again, I was in the Army, I can handle the wait. Last year, I was seen here for an infection on my inner thigh. They made wait for a long time and placed me in a room that was not suitable for the incision that had to be made on my inner thigh. Dr. Bogey handled it, no problem. He even prescribed me some good meds. However, after he finished with me, he left a nurse in charge of my discharge. Suffice to say, I was waiting again for a long time. I, unfortunately, decided it would be ok to check myself out. So, I grabbed my belongings and went home. Short time later, I got a call from the hospital, inquiring about my decision to leave without notice. Well, I didn't see the harm in it because they had performed the treatment I sought and I was ready to go. Besides that, why should I not go? I signed a consent for text and emails regarding my visit. I believe they could have just sent me my discharge information by email or a link in a text to a secured site that contains my discharge information. Again, I returned to the hospital and I was given my discharge information. So, right now, Dr. Bogey walks in and says " so, your here for a rash on your shoulder?" And I said " No, let me show you. I don't know what it is. It's been hurting for a couple days and I can't really sleep on it, so I have had a hard time sleeping too."
So, he looks at it and says " oh that's a cyst, would like me to drain it for you?"
I replied, confidentiality " Yeah, yeah, please!"
And so, he said ok and walked out the room. I'm assuming, he's preparing his staff and himself for the procedure. And, I post 5 stars because they are treating me with respect here. I see signs that say please be patient because there are other patients in need also. Again, been through worse in the Army, as far as waiting and filling out forms. But the service was good. Here at Hazel Hawkins, I was born in and will forever be grateful to it's existence out of goodwill to the people of San Benito County or surrounding places. I have just been put in another room. This time, I have the hospital thing on with no shirt getting ready for the treatment.
