The person who showed up for the assessment of my Mom showed up in jeans. She had blood all over the back of her jeans and got blood all over the couch. Her boyfriend waited in the car, blocking the driveway, asleep in the car. I have never had such an unprofessional person who is supposed to be a nurse. It was disgusting cleaning up her blood off my Moms couch. This person will never be allowed to come back to my Moms house. This happened yesterday, 2-9-24.

I did not have a good experience with Haven Hospice. The best thing I can do about that is write this review and share my experience with you. Since you're reading reviews, I'm thinking that if you don't own, or work for Haven Hospice, this may be the kind of information you're looking for. For one thing, when I contracted the services of this company I soon learned that, at the time, they were ridiculously understaffed. Also, just days after she enrolled, my mom developed a bronchitis and all they wanted to do for her was give her some morphine - no antibiotic because she was on hospice. So, her bronchitis quickly advanced into pneumonia and I had to revoke their services in order to get Mom some appropriate treatment. That was 10 months ago, and surprisingly, (and even contrary to the projections of the various hospitalists at YRMC) Mom is still here with us! No thanks to Haven Hospice, we shared another Mother's Day, another Easter, another summer, another birthday, another stroll among the fall colors, another Thanksgiving - and if it's in God's plan, we will have one more Christmas. At this time, I'm currently interviewing hospice providers for Mom, and that process is what prompted me to put this info out there for others to know about. It's one thing to be able to die in comfort at home because you're in hospice. It's another thing altogether to die at home, (in comfort) because you have an infection, but you're in hospice, so you can't get the care you actually need to survive. On a positive note though, the Chaplain was wonderful! I would only recommend this company to someone who wants ... never mind ... I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Even though I don't have experience with any other Hospice at Home service providers, I'm certain there are way better options out there. I'm banking the quality of end of my mother's life on it!
