Be careful to watch the hours you are billed! I hired this service for my mother, who was in assisted living, to provide extra care. At first the care appeared to be excellent just when a nursing supervisor from the facility contacted me to address problems of the weekend assistant this changed. The care taker was caught sleeping on the job when an employee saw her sleeping on my mom’s bed (this would happen again and maybe a third time), opened windows on cold days for her comfort despite my mom stating she was cold and she believes on some weekends she never worked yet we were billed for the hours. When I addressed this with Griswold the pattern improved briefly and quickly regressed to the point that I requested this aid not to return. On Thanksgiving Day, the aid left three hours early yet never informed the facility nursing supervisor which was policy or anyone else. I received the bill which I paid and it was not until later I found out through a relative that she left early. We were credited the hours. Due to these issues I researched for another provider and was not able to locate one that could cover the hours needed before my mother’s death. I wonder how much my mom paid for services that she never received.

I was helping out an elderly neighbor to find home caregivers for her husband in a home hospice situation. Lee Jacobson of Griswold Home Care of the Merrimack Valley was a pleasure to do business with. He talked me through the options and expectations and then jumped right into finding caregivers that could meet our needs. Unlike other companies I contacted, he was able to secure 2 exceptional caregivers before we signed the contract, and which enabled the patient to transition from the hospital to home care quickly and easily. And the caregivers were indeed excellent: experienced, kind, and caring, They were always on time and communicated with each other to provide continued awareness of the patient's state and needs.

Griswold Home Care for the Merrimack Valley provided the best experience a family can have in a difficult situation with a loved one. Our older family member had to transition from independent living to Hospice overnight and Lee Jacobson was responsive on short notice and was able to provide quality compassionate care givers on short notice as well. Griswold Home Care is an excellent home care agency. They are very focused on customer service - which is extremely important regardless of the size of the agency. There were several times when emergency coverage was needed during unscheduled hours. Griswold was immediately responsive and handled the coverage with ease. Thank goodness. I really don’t know what we would have done without them.
