As a Geriatric Case Manager, I work closely with families who are searching for the right community and level of care for their loved ones. I have had the opportunity to place several residents at this community, and I can say without hesitation that they have consistently provided exemplary care to every resident I have referred.

While this may be an older community, the quality of care, genuine love for the residents, and strong leadership are truly unmatched. What stands out most is the way the team treats each resident with dignity, compassion, and respect while creating an environment where they are genuinely cared for and valued.

As someone who helps families navigate what can be an overwhelming placement process, having a community I can confidently recommend is incredibly important. This is a community where I feel comfortable knowing that the residents I place there are in caring and capable hands.

The age of a building does not define the quality of care—and this community is a perfect example of that. The leadership, staff, compassion, and commitment to their residents speak for themselves. I am grateful to have a community like this as a resource for the families I serve.

I made the decision to move my mother into the community in April 2026. When meeting with the sales director, I was clear that my mother had specific medical needs as she was also entering into hospice for a terminal illness. I was assured numerous times that Greenwood Place had the capacity to manage such medical needs that my mother required. I was shown various “Level of Care” packages (ranging from an additional $600-$2300 a month on top of the monthly residence fee of $3500) and was assured that all levels of medical care could be easily managed at Greenwood Place. I learned within a day that Greenwood Place lacked the resources and staff to manage the needs of my mother. The “med techs” and “medical staff” are poorly trained to handle basic medical needs such as providing Benadryl and lack any basic medical knowledge. My mother was in constant pain due to her terminal illness and I had to call the facility daily to explain that my mother needed her pain meds. I had to call the director numerous times to complain about the way my mother was being treated by the staff. My mother told a staff member that she was in pain and was told by the staff member “well what do you want me to do about it?” The staff kept taking my mothers emergency pendant off and putting it across the room, knowing she could not get to it because they told her that she “pushed it too much.” The staff at Greenwood Place refused to assist my mother with hygiene needs including a bath, stating my mother “screamed in pain too much” so they made the decision to not bathe her for a month without discussing with me or with hospice. When visiting on the weekends, I only saw the staff members at shift change when they would quickly make their rounds before leaving. Walking into the lobby would show the staff members all sitting at tables, laughing and chatting, but I never saw any work actually being done.
I am beyond disgusted at the treatment my mother received during the month that she was in Greenwood Place. I moved my mother into Greenwood Place due to circumstances and I expected the staff to treat my mother the way they would want their own mother to be treated. I know my mother was dying but I did not want her final days to be in a space of neglect and pain. The director assured me that someone was with my mother when she took her last breath on May 13, 2026; however, I do not believe for one second that my mother was not alone. The staff treated my mother as if she was an annoyance – not a patient – not even a human being. I believe, and Greenwood Place is lucky I can’t prove it, that my mother died alone probably close to shift change the night prior and was not found until shift change on the morning on May 13. It does not go unnoticed that I received the call about my mother’s passing around the time of shift change and it certainly does not go unnoticed that they had to air out my mothers’ room for over 24 hours after she passed. The only thing that brings me solace is knowing that my mother is no longer suffering from her disease or at the hands of the staff at Greenwood Place and I am glad I no longer have to deal with having to call up to Greenwood Place on a daily basis to tell them to do their jobs.
If a family ever needs to move a loved one into an assisted living facility in the Marietta, Georgia area, I sincerely hope that they take a long pause and do not even consider Greenwood Place as an option. Even the hospice company we used expressed frustration over issues with the staff at Greenwood Place and the case manager from the hospital has informed me they will no longer include Greenwood Place as a resource for their patients. I hope nobody’s loved one has to endure what my mother did in her final days. Making the decision to die is difficult enough for the patient and the family, but the final days should not be multiplied with stress, pain, incompetence and neglect.

Whoever leaves their parents in this facility care. Most definitely hates their parents or parent. The facility is dirty as hell! Nasty and unsafe! They limit what the residents can eat. The caregivers are extremely LAZY AND ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR PHONES! IT'S A HORRIBLE FACILITY! FOUR RESIDENTS DIED IN ONE MONTH! THE CARE AT THIS FACILITY IS BELOW LOW! AND I'LL BE REPORTING WHAT I WITNESSED HERE TO THE STATE! DON'T PLACE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU. THEY WILL DECLINE FAST
