My childhood yaya (nanny) was transferred to Golden Pavillion for rehabilitation therapy after discharge from Seton Medical. She is 86 years old. Upon her occupancy she was received with kind and gentle care by the staff from the moment she arrived. As you can imagine, being my caregiver and to four other siblings of mine this was difficult for her to receive or accept care from others. However, the staff were very helpful in communicating with her which allowed her to understand why she required the guidance and proper assistive care to rehabilitate safely. Separate from her physical needs, she also has displayed behaviors of cognitive decline. The staff have demonstrated their ability to provide the support allowing my yaya to maintain dignity at those moments of confusion. It is our hope that she may return home with our family. However, at this time since she has been in residence at the Pavillion we have gained confidence and a comfort to know and witness the relationships she has developed with all her caregivers. As well, with other residents. They have embraced her and supported her like family. It has been my personal experience to have been received by the administrators, social service case managers, and all the care staff serving our family with the utmost attention, response and service we expect.
