I am responding as the brother and POA of the person who will be moving in as a transfer from GenCare Eagle Ridge because of his declining mental and physical health. You are more modern, pleasant appearance, and you are set up for his condition. As with all GenCare's, your kitchen can provide for his strict dietary restrictions: Celiac/gluten free, no shrimp or other crustaceans, and no oats - not even gluten free oats. Everyone we met with seemed positive and well trained. We have been so impressed with Valinda whom we have been communicating with for a while.
I had a wonderful tour of GenCare in Federal Way, WA. The grounds are beautiful, the amenities are well taking care of. But what mostly stood out was the exceptionally high level if care provided to the residents to attended to their every need including personal care and safety. The guide Maria Lopez was fantastic- incredible knowledgeable, professional, and focused what would make a future resident feel most comfortable. Thank you for being there for the community.

When my sister, Pamela, and I could no longer safely support our 95-year-old mum due to her dementia and 24/7 health care needs, we visited several holistic (active, residential, and memory care) assisted living communities in Federal Way.<br><br>We selected Gencare Lifestyle (GCL) Federal Way, because of their reputation, focus on caring for the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), and the quality of the team!<br><br>Our mum was initially reluctant to try GCL due to all the changes in her life (especially the death of her beloved daughter and my sister, Pamela), but the residents soon learned of my mum's loss and rallied around her.<br><br>Mum is now in PEAK, the memory care unit of GCL, led by Director, Rachael Payne. Rachael is the consummate professional and dedicated to knowing everyone on her team and every resident in her care.<br><br>Rather than use drugs to manage challenging residents more easily (as some other assisted living facilities sadly do), Rachael, Nicole Malchow (Assistant Director), and the PEAK nurses and staff, figure out how to meet each resident where they are, and then leverage creativity and the "patience of Job", to create a respectful and engaging environment so my mum and her fellow residents can enjoy a health span more equal to their life span.<br><br>In addition to Rachael and Nicole, I'd also like to thank publicly the GCL PEAK and Assisted Living nurses and care professionals, Nicole Courville (Wellness Director), Jordy Schow (Culinary Director) and his team, Valinda Horstman (Community Director), Michele Christenson and Ariana Diaz (such welcoming Concierges), and Angelo Abela (an experienced hospitality GM who cares about creating an environment where the team and residents can flourish), for their love and service these last 12 months to our nearly 96-year-old mum.<br><br>It's been an incredibly challenging transition for several of our family members; GCL has been there for us!<br><br>I highly recommend GCL Federal Way!!
I was looking for a facility for my father who has Parkinson's & Dementia. Being at home was too stimulating for him and it became hard to control him. I reached out to Caycare, Lisa Doyle, for guidance on Memory Care Facilities in Federal Way. She provided me with a few adult family homes and a few Memory Care facilities to look at. I looked at all of them and was really impressed with GenCare Lifestyle Steel Lake in Federal Way. I had a tour with Valinda Hostman who was very knowledgeable and understanding of my situation and I told her I wanted nothing but the best for my father. Of all the homes and facilities I took a tour of I chose GenCare Lifestyle of Federal Way. The Peak Memory Care facility is a secured facility. It has a couple of large common areas verse very small common areas of other facilities. I couldn't put my father into a shoe box facility as I knew he needs a large space so he didn't feel confined. The outdoor space was much larger than the other facilities for the residents to go outside in a secured space and walk the path or sit in the sun. The rooms are shared but very large giving each resident plenty of space to call their own. The Peak Memory Care area is very clean, organized and well kept. There are many activities daily for the residents to participate in along with snacks throughout the day. I have had a couple meal with my father and the food is very good. The best thing that I like is the staff run by Rachael Payne, Director of Peak Memory Care, they are all so caring and loving with all the residents. All the staff care about each resident and spend time each day with them. It's pretty amazing to see so much love from the staff towards the residents. It's like one big happy family there. They are very supportive with the family members knowing what they are going through. I couldn't have chosen a better place for my father, I feel he is in a very safe environment and well take care of. The love there is just amazing. I'm so happy to have chosen Gencare Lifestyle of Federal Way for my father. In addition, I felt that the monthly room & care fee was fairly priced verse the other facilities. I would highly recommend GenCare Lifestyle of Federal Way Peak Memory Care facility for your loved one.
