Overall a good stay for 2 week rehab. Meals went uneaten, so family brought them. Staff were polite and attentive, responding to call button quickly. Facility is clean. Physical therapy was very effective. Client went home on time. CNA Amber on 400 hall was very friendly and helpful.

My father was recently admitted to this facility. He is a middle stage dementia patient and wears hearing aids. The hearing aids are paramount to interacting with him. (more on this later) He is a fall risk. My mother addressed her concerns with him falling out of bed. The staff response was as follows: "We can put some pads down in case he falls and hopefully he won't injure himself" Medical staff that has never seen him or evaluated him, told only the patient (a dementia patient) that he had suffered a stroke.---not the case at all. I want him clean, treated with dignity, safe and a modicum of attention paid to him. During the last visit, at roughly 2pm: -He was sitting by himself in a wheelchair facing the wall. -He looked disheveled, unkept and did not have his hearing aid on. The staff mentioned he was uncooperative and unresponsive. Without the hearing aids, he cannot hear well at all. The longer he goes without wearing them, the worse it gets through the course of the day. The only reason he is here is due to the urgency on our (the family side of things) This will not be our long term choice. Not happy with this facility at all. EDIT: Its been a week and still no response from the director. Its at the point where I am going to put a camera in his room EDIT PART II: Still no response from the director. We have moved him to a different facility. Its a contrast in the best of the best vs the worst of the worst - Garland Road being the latter. ******EDIT PART III — Four months later, still no response.***** It has now been approximately four months since this review was posted, and Garland Road has still not responded. Not to apologize. Not to explain. Not to acknowledge what happened. Nothing. That silence feels very consistent with our experience there. We are still working to undo the damage this facility did. My father is no longer at Garland Road, but the consequences of his time there did not end the day we moved him. That is the part families need to understand. A terrible facility does not just create a bad experience. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It can leave your loved one worse than when they arrived, and then you are left trying to repair what should never have been broken in the first place. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My father was a vulnerable dementia patient. He was a fall risk. He needed hearing aids to communicate. These were not complicated needs. These were basic, obvious, essential parts of caring for him. Garland Road failed at the basics every.step.of.the.way. They failed to treat him with the level of attention and dignity a vulnerable person deserves. They failed to communicate with our family. They failed to respond when concerns were raised. And now, months later, they have failed to even acknowledge a public review describing those failures. We moved him to another facility, and the contrast was immediate. That made the Garland Road experience even more disturbing, because it proved that what we were asking for was not unrealistic. It was normal care. Basic care. Human care. I would not trust Garland Road with someone I love. I would not trust them with someone I merely liked. And after what my family experienced, I would strongly urge anyone considering this facility to look very carefully, ask hard questions, document everything, and understand exactly what kind of place you are dealing with before leaving a vulnerable family member in their care.

This is not someplace you want to leave a family member, unless you can be there with them daily. Some of the staff is nice and will help the residents, but the majority of them are just there for a paycheck and do not care. They are not friendly or helpful to visitors. The odors in the halls are nauseating. The residents cannot get bathed, as there is not sufficient or willing staff to accommodate their needs or requests. The quality of food continues to deteriorate. The administrator WILL NOT return calls or pick up calls to discuss the issues. My dad became very depressed in the time he was at this facility. After moving him, he is amazed at how much better his situation is now and his spirits are improving.

Meals at Garland Road leaves a lot to be desired. Eating in rooms is the worst..9am cold breakfast is terrible. Some meals are so spicy or not good they are sent back not eaten. Thank goodness for light snacks family and friends bring residents. A surprise visit at meals from Inspector would be interesting.

My 88 year old mother stayed for 2 weeks during her rehab after falling and fracturing her hip. The staff were friendly and accommodating to my requests, food service was good, and the outdoor space was fantastic for taking mom on wheelchair walks. Like all places - it is understaffed- so family members need to be there to support and care for their loved ones. I also appreciated the family room as I was able to work while being close to mom. The residences were very friendly and the open living tv space was nice. The only reason I am giving it a 4 is the smell and shared rooms. Recommend bringing a room plug-in 😊
