Mother was brought in patient into the skilled nursing. The facility staff, nurses where all 100% fantastic. I have seen many other facilities and this is the best one I've been to. God Bless the people who do these difficult jobs.

While it is too soon to review the care, wanted to give a shout out to Patty in admissions, hence the 5 stars. A friend and I visited without an appointment prior to a family member's placement. Patty took us into her office and answered all our questions with no feeling of being hurried or dismissed. Patty is definitely an asset to the facility.

PT and OT was awesome!! Prisoners ate better looking food than these patients. The pineapple was brown, and smelled. My dad was having catheter pain, and he hit the nurses button. He waited two hours for them to see him. The only reason they did was because my sister came in and got them. They cleaned him up, and he had a bed sore. My sister cleaned him after an aid did, and there was dried feces on his bed sore. He was soiled with feces still. He was never taken out of his bed to sit in a chair. This resulted in him losing muscle mass in his legs. He went home not walking. We took him out of there, because nothing was being done to improve him. The other night he was disoriented and thought he was there again. He was scared be ause of that. The two aids that were nice were Alyssa, and Maddie. I liked Jon the nurse!

Our family chose Friendship Village of South Hills because we were repeatedly assured that it offered a continuum of care and that residents could age in place as their needs changed. Unfortunately, our experience was very different from what was promised.

Our parents moved into the independent living building in 2018, and when the memory care facility opened in 2019, our father became its first resident. We believed we had found a community where he could live out the rest of his life, regardless of how his dementia progressed. The marketing materials and sales presentations emphasized that all levels of care were available and that residents would not have to leave the community as their health declined.

As our father's dementia advanced, however, Friendship Village ultimately told us they could no longer care for him and required him to leave. This was devastating for our family and completely contrary to the expectations that were created when we chose the facility. We made a major financial and emotional commitment based on the promise that he would be able to remain there throughout the progression of his disease.

The forced move was extremely difficult for him. After having to leave the community he had called home for years, he was transferred to another facility. He passed away just 90 days later in June 2025. Our family will always believe that being uprooted from familiar caregivers, surroundings, and routines during the most vulnerable stage of his illness contributed to his decline.

While the facilities themselves are attractive and well-maintained, appearances do not make up for what we feel were misleading assurances about aging in place. Families considering Friendship Village should ask very specific questions about what happens when a resident's care needs exceed the services currently available and get those answers in writing.

We feel deeply disappointed that, after trusting their promises and building our lives around their continuum-of-care model, our father was forced to leave at the time he needed stability and familiar surroundings the most.
