If you care for your loved ones, don’t send them here. This place is run by toxic people who neglect their patients and ignore their requests. The healthcare staff act like high schoolers who bullied each other and talked bad about other patients.

Don’t send family members here, the place is disgusting, disrespectful and I just feel bad for the residents who live there.

I Would never ever send anyone here. The place is filthy. The nurses are incompetent and very nasty to everyone. CNA’ S were even worse. They left me alone for 2 hours and 15 minutes knowing I could not walk and was defenseless. They took way too long to answer the call bell. I had a nurse and CNA come into my room in the middle of the night and scream at me. They said I was creating a hazardous space when I couldn’t even walk. I was afraid for the rest of the night that they were gonna hurt me they were so aggressive yelling at me. Often ignoring me and my roommate. I had garbage all over my room and the rails to my bed were absolutely disgusting. The food looked like it was cooked for dogs.

I placed my sibling in this facility in September 2024. He was there for 4 months before he passed. I was pretty concerned placing him in a SNF with all the CMS horror stories and ratings. Everything at Fresh River was wonderful. The staff was always watching over him. They were kind attentive and always willing to help in any way. The room was clean and well taken care of. I highly recommend this facility.

My brother who passed away last month was a patient at Fresh River since 2018. His was a difficult case...his mental and physical disabilities were quite challenging and profound and he required 24/7 nursing care. The only way my family could afford his healthcare was with Medicaid which simply cannot provide all the bells and whistles. That being said, every member of the staff…receptionists, aids, nurses and administrators who I came to know were caring, kind and responsive. Whenever an issue came up that needed to be addressed, they worked with me to help resolve things. Were things perfect? NO. But at the end of the day, the staff was so caring with my brother, who didn’t want to be there. (Is there anyone who given the choice, wants to be in a nursing home?). The building is not fancy…I’m sure if they could get more funding they would do more…but it was always clean. I lived 50 miles from Fresh River and during his time, I looked at other places that were nearby, but none seemed to compare in terms of the care and attitude of the staff. So what did these years teach me? If you are forced to have your loved one in a nursing home, take a moment to think about the folks who are with him everyday. These are not easy jobs. These are folks who are there to solve difficult problems when the outcomes are not always pleasant. I couldn’t do what they do. I’m truly grateful to the staff at Fresh River who were there for my brother when I couldn’t be.
