The home is clean and spacious. Beautiful backyard. My mom spent most of her time sitting in front of the TV in her room. What she was watching was not monitored and I would arrive to find her watching violent police shows which my mom would think were reality. I never witnessed any form of activity being done to fill the residents time. They did provide outside music on occasion and celebrated birthdays. The staff had little understanding of how to gracefully care for someone with dementia. Loud yelling from staff telling people what to do and not do. My mom was very anxious and lived in fear of being yelled at. I was often encouraged to ask my mom's doctor for stronger medication to make her sleep through the night. (Something people with dementia often don't do.) Claudia, one of the staff that stopped by the home on occasion, was the only shining light. We moved mom to a new, warm, caring, environment and she is calm , sleeping better and much happier.
