My mother was at Fallsview for 18 days after a hip surgery. She is alert, oriented and able to advocate for herself... THANK GOD!! Im going to start off with the positive. The PT/OT was fantastic! K, the director of rehab, was so attentive, and pushed my mother past her comfort zone, which was exactly what she needed. A week before her discharge, plans changed and she needed to learn how to do steps. K went above and beyond to accommodate. Alan, my moms aide, was so kind and treated her with dignity. Tio, the night nurse was fantastic. The recreation staff always came to see if she wanted to attend activities, and included her visitors as well. It took over 1 week for them to get my mothers medication straight. She knows what she is supposed to take and how often. When she rang the call bell, on numerous occasions, she would have to wait for over an hour before someone came to help her. The evening and night shift were non existent... she was on her own at night. There was no home care set up for her discharge. The answer we got was "they dont take her insurance ". There was no follow through or assistance on how to set up any of the home care. We had to figure all of that out on our own. We requested snacks twice a day due to her inability to eat full meals, and she only got snacks TWICE. After 1 day home, she went back to the hospital with pneumonia AND E.Coli. If you are unable to advocate for yourself, feed yourself or are not alert and oriented, this is NOT the place for you!
