My loved one was admitted to the rehab unit following an extended hospital stay. If your loved one has any short term memory loss, be prepared to be there with them as much as you can daily to advocate for them. The unit has 28 beds I believe & is severely short staffed with CNA staff. This past weekend there was only 1 CNA on duty for all the patients on the day shift. On the day of admission I stayed until 4:30pm after PT came to do their assessment. At 9pm on day of admission I received a call that my husband had fallen around 7:30 apparently trying to get to the bathroom . I was told he was fine, they cleaned him up & helped him to bed. I arrived as early as I could the next morning to find the soiled clothes on the floor. I took a picture to document the clothes. The nurse apologized when I showed them to her apologizing & saying that the evening nurse was new & she would be talked to. The nurse came in with meds then & announced that she wasn't able to give nebulizer treatment as there wasn't one in the room. The reason for his hospitalization was due to acute respiratory distress which meant that he had not received his treatment the night of admission either. That was negligence as the center to accept a patient from the hospital has to review their medical records from the hospital indicating the meds, treatments that were being done. The nebulizer should have been in the room on the day of admission. Due to the cold weather this past weekend, I did not go in to visit on Saturday. I got there on Sunday around noon. I found him in the dining room. He look disheveled, so decided to take him to his room to shave & brush his hair. As I was wheeling him to the room, I noticed that he had a injury to his scalp. I asked an aide what had happened & she replied " oh he fell last evening & has an abrasion on his left elbow too. I wasn't on duty then " I was never notified of the fall- huge red flag for negligence of care of a vulnerable adult who is on blood thinners . I took pictures of injured areas. Unfortunately my husband's condition deteriorated & was transferred back to the hospital later on Sunday due to a condition not related to the fall the night before. I am angry & saddened about his stay here. I need to go back to retrieve some clothing which had not been laundered when I returned to the facility the next day to pick up his belongings. I will add that my husband worked well with the PT & OT department & would give 5 stars for that department if I could.

If I could give zero stars I would. My mom has been at St Ben’s for the past week. The facility is dirty, they are not attentive to the patients, they serve them crap for food. They served my mom salad with a pita bread and some chicken. The pita was extremely hard. My mom has a bad set of dentures and can’t handle eating harder food. She brought it to the aids attention and she looked at my mom and said “don’t eat it then” and walked away. Like what the hell? These elderly are there and need care and compassion. Not snotty brats. They knew what they were getting into when applying for the job. Bad wages, over worked, and looking after the elderly. And the fact that they don’t provide proper meals to the residents is insane. My mom needs this care. But not at the expense mistreatment to the elder folks. And how nasty the facility looks. The cleaners come in and the rooms look the same as before they supposedly cleaned them. I am beyond angry and want something done!!

My great grandfather is in here and it costs him $15,000 a MONTH! For a whole year it would cost around $5,475,000. We are not satisfied with his care there and how the employees treated him. I get that there's more people here than him, but it's just outrageous how much we have to pay for him to be here a whole month.
