I visited a particular resident weekly here for some time. I can honestly say that every time I went there all the residents seemed happy. The one downside might be minimal activities, but compared to other group homes this one seems to be a great option for an introvert (peaceful room accommodations) or an extrovert (positive social environment). Unlike some group homes, this one seemed to have less acting-out of residents. The residents seemed very friendly and respectful of visitor and resident personal space. The outside grounds looked green & pleasant with many places to sit and get fresh air. Sanitation seemed under control and there seemed to be no pests in the house (i.e. no bed bugs, etc.). Management seemed caring and professional in every interaction I had with them and very concerned about resident comfort and safety. It was very easy to talk to them. There is easy access to the Columbia avenue bus which goes straight downtown, but the one downside is the road out front is pretty fast, however it is not super busy when I was out there, so there was time to cross the road but looking both ways is important. As far as the complaints on supposedly taking people's money, I don't know their situation uniquely, but in any group home there can be costs that Medicaid, Medicare, or a waver doesn't cover, which might be taken from the residents social security monthly check. Medicare, Medicaid, a government provided waver, and Social Security are all free from the government, so a group home taking some of someone's social security monthly allowance for expenses the individual person incurred isn't the same as taking someone's work paycheck or gift pocket money. Also, at the time I visited, certain residents would sometimes pool pocket money to pay for takeout (what a nice thing for people to drive and get them fast food for a fun treat), so if a person's loved one was running out of pocket money without going anywhere that might be the culprit and the resident forgot or were lying about it and saying they don't know where it went. If you are concerned about your loved one losing pocket money you can ask some articulate residents about ordering outside food, i.e. if people in the group ever do so (i.e. are they still doing it?).

I hope no one sends their family there, the owner Melissa needs to learn how to care for the residents the correct way

I didn't hate it cause I personally never been there. The only thing I can tell ya is it's a bus stop. I have been on the bus many times to know it stops here. So if ya ever have to take the bus to this area you now know this could be your stop.....
