My experience varies at least every few weeks to 40 days. It depends on the nurses on duty on upper level A Hall. There are currently a number of nurses that are sent by agencies.they know little to nothing about the residents.

The worst care anywhere and no one to icall if you have an issue. I take lantus every night at 10 pm..at 9 pm a long maybe? Tried to give me my long acting insulin at 9 pm (lasts 6 hours). Became angry when I refused. I asked for the RN,hoping to explain. I Said I get my insulin at 10 and that is all That i was. Allowed to say.she said it is only 9.. are you wanting your medication? I said no and she said don't bother me again and slammed my door.my blood sugar is350. Guess I have to wait for the 11:00 shift.hopefully, it will be someone who really works here, and not agency.if not,I will call 911 if I have to,or,ifi can beforeI go into a diabetic coma. Not a fan of Delmar Gardens of overland park.no cont I nutty of care.

Parking, nonexistent, no spots available (I was visiting someone). Good luck finding it because signage is also non-existent as to where skilled nursing is, as you can see from this photo - it does tell you on the signs where the "retirement villas" are but that's not what I was looking for since I was trying to find skilled nursing. I did call and also asked in person to a front desk I found but they basically just told me to get out of their parking lot since I couldn't find the skilled nursing side of the facility until walking and driving around for 20 minutes.

The Overland Park facility has the most unbelievable neglectful care. My disabled sister was there for long term rehab from a broken bone. She was able to get up and transfer to the bathroom, etc., but the night staff put a diaper on her and told her to urinate in it instead of taking her to the bathroom. This was only the worst thing they did. We told the director of the facility and the nursing staff managers, and it happened two more times before I identified the specific CNA. The staff protected the identity of the bad apple in lieu of solving the problem. My family was fortunately able to move my sister before it happened again. The owners of the facility are making a ton of money and present their story as a caring family business but are another example of corporate greed. DON'T GO THERE!
