I was very disappointed with our experience at the Kentridge facility.
Upon arrival, my 88-year-old mother was assigned to a shared room, despite our request for a private room. In addition, neither the bed nor the room was ready when we arrived. We were eventually moved to a private room, but this was not a good start to her stay.
My mother was unable to use the bathroom independently, and it often took an unacceptably long time for staff to respond after she pressed the call button for assistance.
During one of our visits, we noticed a pill sitting on her meal tray. She was at the facility for PT and OT and was also experiencing double vision, making it difficult for her to see the pill. When I brought this to the nursing staff's attention, I was told that she had already received all of her medications. This raised serious concerns about medication administration and oversight.
Finally, my mother had an early morning ophthalmology appointment that I took her to. During that appointment, we were told she needed to go immediately to the emergency room because of her vision issues. What was most alarming is that after she left the facility for this urgent medical situation, no one from Kentridge ever contacted us to check on her status or whereabouts. We returned the following day to clear out her room, and it appeared that no one at the facility knew where she was or had followed up on her condition.
Overall, this experience left us very concerned about the level of care, communication, and patient oversight provided. It was especially troubling given my mother's age and medical condition. The lack of responsiveness and follow-up was both disappointing and frightening.

My mother was in there for about 3O days with broken right arm and broken left leg..The PT n OT there are wonderful but the other staff ( nursing n aids) are worthless.they wouldn't help her to bathroom put her in a diaper n then there were times she sat in a soiled diaper up to an hr..Pressing the call button was like a 20 minute wait then they'd all pass the buck for others to change her...I find this totally unacceptable..We won't go into the cafeteria problems but this place really needs to look into some issues..I will never recommend this place to anyone..I remember her pushing her call button n after 20 minutes still no one I look out in the hall n I see at least 4 employees doing nothing..Do better..

My best friend went to the rehab center post-surgery (right femur fractured). She described the center as a "nightmare". Staff, especially the night shift, were physically and emotionally abusive. Pure lack of compassion, respect and inability to meet one's basic need(s) of safety. On her behalf, I am writing to Medicare auditors, Joint Commission and State of Michigan Healthcare auditors. Please do not send friends and/or family members to this facility.
