I cannot speak highly enough about Charter Davison! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure that every resident feels welcomed and valued. Their genuine care and attentiveness create a supportive environment where everyone feels right at home.<br><br>The sense of community here is absolutely fantastic! The residents are vibrant and socially active, always eager to participate in the various activities and events organized by the staff. Whether it’s field trips, arts and crafts, or movie screenings, there’s never a dull moment! Charter of Davison has seen a noticeable positive change with the new leadership team in place. Their hands-on approach and genuine care have made a big difference in the overall atmosphere of the community.<br><br>The recent updates like new paint, carpet, and renovations especially in their memory care neighborhood have truly refreshed the building and enhanced the home-like environment. It’s clear this community is moving in a great direction, and it shows every day.

My mother lived in charter for around 7 years in the memory care wing. When it started out it was very good care and nice place. It has gone downhill beyond belief and price has skyrocketed for less care. She was left in bed for a good duration of the day. She is unable to speak or do anything for herself so she was just left behind on most occasions. The nurses aides are usually great but usually leave after a few months for better salary or better place. Have been lied to multiple times by people in charge and if not for hospice I don’t believe she would have been cared for much at all. So much turnover even at the top because of so many issues. Would not recommend at all for memory care as of now. Expect to have to sign in on a tablet everytime you come in and out and need to go search for someone to be let out of the memory care wing. Sometimes this can take 10 min or more if you can’t find someone. Had to call front desk multiple times to be let out of a locked in area. Also look at reviews on indeed from actual workers at this place about all of the issues.

My mother was in this facility for over 6 years and it has done nothing but get worse. 3 years ago, this review would have looked very different. If you are hoping to have your loved one spend their golden years here - DON'T. Initially - it was great - family visited, my mother could advocate for herself and care was decent. As Alzheimers disease progressed, she was unable to advocate and staff (minus a few) didn't fill in the gaps to allow for basic human care.<br><br>Within the past 2 years, care has gotten terrible - almost unethical in my opinion. My mother (in end stage of Alzheimers) requires total care (that we were spending $8000 a month for). Staff was not turning her, staff was not checking in on her in a timely manner, not changing her depends, etc. As family, we implemented written notebook to try to hold people accountable - didn't work, no carryover, we got a tilt in space wheelchair to allow for pressure relief with the push of a lever with handouts on how to use wheelchair (no accountability). There was no carryover because staff (in all areas) was a revolving door. They would stay about 3 months so there was no learning, no caring, no accountability. This isn't just tech staff - this is staff from managers to techs. The nurse manager in the Memory care section said that they could lock my mom in her room to keep "wanderers" out of her room. This is the problem solving of the manager so that shows what kind of orientation or mentoring program they have as a whole.<br><br>There have been times I've been in her room for an hour (not one person knew I was there or even came to check on her within that hour) - although they will say their policy is different. I will then look at the activity app (which is a great idea if used correctly) and it will show that my mom was out in the living room participating in balloon volleyball or harmony temple which continued to happen with no accountability. This unethical documentation also eclipsed into their nursing documentation. My mother should have been getting turned every 2 hours to limit pressure sores - but instead of documenting - this order was erased on more than one occasion. The only reason we were aware of this was because of our amazing Hospice partners. My mother got the care she needed because of Hospice - NOT because of Charter.<br><br>I even called Charter corporate to talk to Ryan Uhlman (Regional DIrector of Operations) to discuss some of the difficulties we were having. I left a message and guess what? Never returned my call. This facility is a problem from the very top to the very bottom. You have to check in/out each arrival and on EVERY single check out you are given a survey - take it there, if you don't you get a text to complete a survey. Now if you like a survey every time you go to see your loved one at their "home", you will enjoy this long and tedious sign in/out process but for me personally, it felt wasteful when I could be spending time with my loved one. It feels like a business, not like a home when you ask on every departure all the "business" questions.<br><br>We often would go near lunch or dinner time to find my mother, the only one without a drink. We often had to ask staff to give her water. (She was the only one on thickened liquids) so often it was just too much work. We have even asked if my mom's level of care was too much for the facility to handle and they said no, but continued to give horrendous care. I don't blame the techs/aides - I blame the process. They have limited education, very little onboarding mentorship, large workload, and poor leadership.<br><br>I urge families to do unannounced tours at any facility you may decide on. I wish Charter the best in their business endeavors and I hope staff putting in ***** reviews get a little bonus check too. (Marissa Mazen).
