Central Nebraska Veterans' Home

Central Nebraska Veterans' Home in Kearney, Nebraska is a 225-bed skilled nursing facility operated by the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs. The community opened on January 16, 2019 and serves veterans seeking nursing care.

The facility is organized into six neighborhoods, each containing three homes that serve 12–15 members. Every home includes its own kitchen, dining area, living room, den with rotating library, private dining room, spa room, and patio with gazebo. Member rooms are private with individual bathrooms.

Campus amenities include a Chapel, Clinic, Crafts and Woodshop area, Fox Hole Canteen, Salon, Library with computers and Wi-Fi, outdoor paths, and a lake with handicapped accessible fishing piers. The community maintains a robust activity program throughout the year, featuring patriotic displays at the Central Nebraska Veterans Memorial, fishing, music concerts, Bingo, shuffleboard, pool, church services, movies, and gym facilities.

The facility balances its size—which can initially seem large—with cozy, home-like neighborhoods and larger common spaces designed for gathering. Staff are dedicated to knowing each member and their family, respecting the individual stories and experiences of those served.
