About Cary Family Care Assisted Living

Cary Family Care is an assisted living home in Cary, North Carolina, founded to provide personalized, compassionate care to seniors and individuals with disabilities who wish to maintain independence and dignity in a home setting rather than an institutional environment. The community was created in response to the founder's experience managing a large skilled nursing facility and recognizing the shortcomings of institutional care for older adults.

The home accommodates only three seniors, maintaining a 3-to-1 resident-to-staff ratio that enables individualized, around-the-clock care. Services are designed to assist clients with routine care and activities of daily living while helping them maintain their independence and achieve their health and wellness goals. The small, intimate setting is intended to provide a level of personalized attention that the founder believes is difficult to achieve in larger institutional placements.

Cary Family Care's caregiving team is highly trained, licensed, and insured, with regular training to ensure quality care. The community emphasizes compassion, respect, integrity, and excellence as core values guiding all aspects of service delivery. Staff prioritize the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of each resident, with personalized care plans tailored to meet individual needs and preferences.

The community welcomes visitors during normal business hours, reflecting an open-door approach to family involvement in residents' care.

[Sharing on behalf of Jane Gillette] I want to express my profound thanks to Mark Truesdell, owner of Cary Family Care, and his two staff members, Hailey Brightful and Alex Figuero, for the excellent care that my husband received for the last three years. In my opinion, one of the most important attributes that Mark, Hailey, and Alex exhibit is the ability to make whatever changes need to be made so that each resident can get the excellent care they need to stay happy, calm, and safe. Mark trains his staff to be aware when changes are necessary and to communicate that to each other. The quick follow through is phenomenal! My husband was often quite the challenge, especially when he was sundowning. Mark was quick to contact me and his doctor when medication changes were necessary, choosing to have meds decreased when it was appropriate. He did not want my husband to be overmedicated and to just be a zombie. I trusted his judgment implicitly. Mark has a special “calling” to care for those who can no longer care for themselves, whether it be due to dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s or just plain old age. His residents love him! His care home is just that, a home where each person is respected and loved. I loved hearing my husband laugh at Mark’s antics! They sang together often. Mark told me that his residents are his teachers, training him in the best care they need. His problem solving skills are superb! Cary Family Care is always kept spotlessly clean. In all three years, I was never met by a bad smell there. The residents are consistently clean and well-groomed and are taken to the bathroom every two hours without fail. They are served delicious meals and snacks—Mark even routinely makes fresh fruit smoothies! He sneaks vegetables in with the fruit so they get proper nutrition. There are plenty of activities for the residents to engage in, like magnetic darts, beach ball toss, fun music and TV shows to enjoy, books, catalogs, and newspapers to read, art projects to complete. They have access to puzzles and toys appropriate for their skill levels. My husband was taken outside for walks and to sit in the sunshine and watch the planes fly over. My whole family has the ultimate respect for Mark and his staff. It’s where I would want to be if I needed care.

Mark is beyond one of the best caregivers I’ve ever met. Before finding Mark and Cary Family Care I personally took care of my dad, hired caregivers and also had him in a facility. I used to micromanage every detail. In the almost three years my father has been at Mark’s, I have never had to worry for one single second. His skill, his commitment, his empathy for my dad/his dignity are off the chart. Mark is able to manage all that he brings to the table and train his staff with the same consistency. I am forever grateful for Cary Family Care!

Mark showed such wonderful compassion and care for my Dad. The home was convenient to our location in Cary and allowed easy access to visit around busy family schedules. The home environment very welcoming and Dad was able to adjust very quickly to his new surroundings. We felt great peace with Dad being in Mark's care. I strongly recommend you explore Cary Family Care Assisted Living for your family needs.

I am so happy that we found this wonderful facility. My brother and I could not be happier with the awesome care that our mother gets. She gets homemade nutrious foods that are made for her situation. She is loving taken care of by Mark (the owner) and his staff, as if my mom is part of their family. My mother's every need is addressed immediately. We don't have to worry about bed sores, dirty linens, or any other issue that often happens at other facilities. The ratio is 3 to 1! My mother's room is so nicely arranged and her personal things (pictures etc) are so nicely arranged. I sleep very well at night knowing how well cared my mother is. She was in a "chain" place before and it was not good. I give Cary Family care 100 stars out of 5. I can visit anytime. I love the fact that they have security cameras. I also love how there are bird feeders and tons of plants, inside and outside. My mom loves these!! You should definitely place your loved on with 1000% confidence with this facility.

My mom was at Cary Family Care for nearly a year - and from the first meeting with Mark, we knew that we had found someone who truly had a heart for caring for the elderly. He was committed to doing anything he could to make her time there as comfortable and safe as possible. Even though Mom was not able to verbalize well, Mark found alternate ways to understand her wishes and keep her dignity intact. The setting was truly a home where she received delicious and nutritious meals, where she could keep her own waking and sleeping schedules, and where we could come and visit at any time. I never worried about Mom's safety while under Mark and his team's care as he and his stall worked with all diligence to ensure that all meds were carefully managed and even though she was prone to falls, she didn't have one issue with a fall during her time there. It's not very often that you find someone who provides this level of care with such a heart for the whole person - Mark was simply a godsend to our family during this time of our lives.
