Our experience with the Caring Place was nothing short of dismal. Our family member was left many hours before she could get a bedpan or bathroom. The staff simply didn’t respond to the call bell. During Franklin’s Applefest, most of the staff called off so patients were even more abandoned.
The nurses were pretty competent but the many of the CNA staff simply didn’t care.
The head of social services had the worst communication skills I have ever experienced. She was quick to tell us how much private pay would cost but never saw cared that my family member stayed beyond the Medicare payment period because she was not improving. In fact, I believe the frequent urinary tract infections she got were a direct result of her not being offered opportunities to void regularly.
There’s a laundry list of things that should have been done better. She is home now and lives independently. TCP staff warned me she was not ready to come home and we took her AMA. She just didn’t get the care she deserved while there
