About Avir at La Grange

Avir at La Grange is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in La Grange, Texas, licensed for 98 residents. The community serves patients recovering from surgery, those requiring wound care, and older adults needing ongoing medical support.

Family experiences here show sharp contrasts. Many visitors consistently praise the nursing staff as caring, professional, and attentive, with one family noting that therapy and treatment teams brought their grandmother home after just two weeks. The activities program draws repeated mention, one family wrote, "Tammie the activities has so much fun with residents." However, several families have reported serious concerns about cleanliness (bedding and floors), staffing shortages that slow response to call buttons during peak times, and inconsistent food quality, with complaints about cold meals and hard-to-eat items. A few families also flagged gaps in daily personal care like bathing and shaving assistance. The use of contract caregivers during staffing gaps has been a point of frustration for some visiting family members.

The facility holds a 4.1-star rating across 26 Google reviews. Strong five-star reviews emphasize the kindness and dedication of staff, while lower ratings highlight operational challenges around cleanliness, responsiveness, and food service consistency.

I go to cate inn of la grange 5-7 days a week to visit a resident for the family to make sure there loved one of 102 yrs old are met. Die to staff shortages they usr a lot of contract caregivers. So they do not know the patients and don’t care to. But my biggest problem is the parking lot. The administrator lets an unmarked handicapped van sit in a designated handicapped space and employees to take up all the front parking spaces. The parking lot has a lot of dangerous spots that i and others can trip in. Because I’m handicapped i wonder what the American Handicapped Act people will have to say about the problems I’m having along with other families when we sometimes pack heavy item ento this facility. The administrator has been notified of this several times.!!
