Safety and health care have declined considerably since I moved here three years ago; I would give one star on that basis. The other residents are great and the food is superb, worthy of five stars. On balance, three stars. UPDATE: I have now been here for nine years, and things have improved mightily during that time. I feel safe and well cared for. The food is still great! So five stars.

Life at Canterbury Woods exceeded my expectations! I love living where Canterbury Woods is in Pacific Grove. I can walk to the ocean and to many good stores and restaurants. The cool climate is perfect for walking and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The Canterbury Woods staff is amazing. They bend over backwards to make living here a pleasant experience. The dining room servers make a point of learning our preferences and providing what we want before we even ask. The Morrison people do their best to make our meals tasty. The driver is pleasant, careful, knows the roads, and makes sure that the rides are enjoyable. Somehow he knows how long our medical appointments will last, even more than we do. He has even consented to drive us at hours, such as 5:45 AM, when he could have told us to get a cab. Housekeeping keeps our apartment and the rest of the campus clean very efficiently. The landscapers give us always lovely plant life. The housemen deliver our packages, including some really heavy ones, and newspapers. The administration is unfailingly patient with our questions and requests. The medical staff is really responsive to our needs. It is so reassuring to know that our health is being cared for. Finally, the residents are friendly and interesting. A fellow resident said that meals are like going to a faculty club, with the many thoughtful conversations.

My mother was here for rehab after a fall at her home. When she was admitted into CHOMP, I requested that she be sent to Canterbury. I worked at Canterbury in my youth, and remembered working with an exceptional and caring staff. Therefore, I knew that my mom would be well taken care of, and that she was. Thank you for the excellent care and attention. My mother enjoyed her time at Canterbury SNF.

My Mother passed away about three weeks ago. The last 20 years of her life she lived in Canterbury Woods first in independent living then in assisted living. I can not say enough good things about this facility. The staff from administrator, Elvyra, to housekeeping were wonderful. They gave Mom care, love, dignity, safety, and a sense of community. Between staff and the residence it’s like being surrounded by family that loves you. I have to give a special thanks to Elvyra the administrator who worked tirelessly to keep all her residence safe during this covid pandemic. I know not all decisions were popular but she kept them safe. If your considering a community like Canterbury Woods for you or a family member do not hesitate. This is a fabulously well run facility. You will not regret your decision.

We have lived at CANTERBURY WOODS for 5 years. Having moved from Silicon Valley and the busy environment there, we are very happy with the beauty of the CANTERBURY gardens,, the services we receive and the wider spectacular Pacific Grove locale. Thanks to all our service providers!!
