My father in law was at Brookdale for almost a year. When we were told the monthly fee would be increasing by over $500 a month we decided to change facilities. In his final week there (February), my mother in law negotiated the bill and wrote a final check. After that check was written, Brookdale then proceeded to charge her additional via auto draft that was over $1000 higher than her previous bill or the $500 and higher than the bill sent. She stopped the paper check, but has yet to receive the refund of the overpayment that was taken via auto draft. We have gone in person and been promised by Ken, the director, that it will be processed. I received a text from Ken on 3/26/26 saying the credit has been sent and asked for expedition. It has now been over 6 weeks since that text and she has still not received the refund owed to her. My mother in law is 80 years old, and should not be dealing with the stress of this facility stealing her money! The last week my father in law was at Brookdale, they allowed him to fall and he received no treatment for the fall while under their care. After he was moved the new facility had him xrayed and it was determined he broke his hip in the fall. Brookdale does not have the staff to accommodate their memory care unit, other patients were regularly going into my father in laws room there and taking his snacks/drinks. Caught sleeping in his bed, and one even urinated on the couch in his room like it was a urinal! Stay far away from Brookdale unless you plan to stay with your loved one 24/7 to ensure their care. And do not ever enroll in auto pay through Brookdale! Ken is a liar, do not trust a word he says!!!

My Mom lived at Brookdale for almost 5 years, called it home prior to passing a week ago. Mom wanted to stay at Brookdale with Hospice services being administered among the staff and friend she looked at as family. The staff and management displayed a great deal of compassion and desire to keep her comfortable as possible to the end. My brother and I would like to thank the staff and management team for all of their help and professionalism during our time of grief.

My mom has been a resident since May, 2020; Three months into the COVIC pandemic. In almost 4 years, I've yet to meet a member of the staff who wasn't pleasant, kind, professional and caring. No matter the situation or how busy they are, I've always been greeted with eye contact and a smile. *It's the little things that mean so much.......Recently my mom had a small stroke and was transferred to the hospital, then to a rehabilitation center for physical therapy before she is able to return to Brookdale. Last week I met with Coleen Hembrey, executive director, and Susan Randolph, Health and Welness Director to assure all the key people at all facilities were communicating. This has been a very stressful time and Coleen and Susan could not have been more caring and professsional. They went above and beyond to address all my concerns, even taking the time to evaluate my mom's room with me and provide insights to how we can maximize safety as well as comfort when she returns. I highly recommend Brookdale West Melbourne to anyone considering an assisted living enviroment - as long as the local leadership stays the same! Thank you, Alice Spinelli Culbreth

We had my father here for 4+ years before we moved him out. First, he was in the ALF, then we moved him to the Memory Care unit as he digressed. There have been lots of changes at Brookdale over the years and not for the better. Constant rotation of personnel is a big problem. Everyone tells you they thought someone else was doing the job. Housekeeping, laundry, basic care was all on the back burner because "someone else" was thought to be doing it. Some of the staff is very nice, but most are not attentive at all and too busy sitting on their butts looking at their phones. You'd be better-off finding another facility for your loved one.

I am extremely happy with the care provided at the memory care unit at West Melbourne Brookdale. The staff is friendly and caring, the residents look clean and neat. There are occasional outings that residents are invited to. The building is designed to allow walking in the building as well as being able to enjoy a lovely garden area. Before choosing this facility I spoke to several marketing staff from other facilities but the video tour and phone call from Aly was enough to do one in-person tour to Brookdale as I was not interested in the other facilities. Additionally the nursing staff works closely with the medical providers ti insure residents are getting the care they require.
