My grandmother resided at Brookdale South San Marcos for 13 years until they sold to a company named Gemstone who would not accept Medicaid. Eleven residents, including my grandmother, were then given 30 days to vacate their homes. (Or less if you needed assistance moving). There were 19 bids on this property, no one from Brookdale could tell me if any of the other offers could have continued the Medicaid contract. They chose to displace eleven seniors who relied on their care, and then they turned around and evicted them for the sake of profit. My grandmother and others were moved into skilled nursing facilities, only able to take some clothing and things they good hang on the walls. I wonder who could be next, it was Medicaid residents last month.
