I provide notary services to residents. I always find Brightview to be welcoming and friendly. The overall impression of the place is bright and clean. A sign-in process for visitors is automated and easy. All the residents that I have provided notary services to appear to be very happy living here.

The worst decision that we ever made was sending our Mother to Brightview in Devon, PA. In our mother's last year of life, she was placed in her wheelchair twice in a way that resulted in her sustaining 2 large, deep, painful leg wounds that required months of wound care. She sustained multiple bruises to one of her arms that she reported occurred when one of the night staff punched her. Her wedding ring and engagement ring disappeared from her apartment. As she was distraught over these losses, we put our deceased father's wedding ring on a chain for her to wear and that disappeared the next day. Shortly before this last Thanksgiving, my husband went to visit her just after 4:30pm. Typically, she would be in the dining room with her friends having dinner, but she was not there. He went to her room and she was in her nightgown and still in bed. He asked the staff why she was not at dinner and this person said that they were too short staffed to get her ready and bring her down. He insisted that she get her dressed and he brought her to dinner. He went back at 5pm or so 2 days later and found the same circumstances. She was in bed and not having dinner. Had he not visited at those times, she would have missed dinner. The next day, he went to speak with the executive director of the facility and he was told that she was in a meeting. He went back later and was told that she was not available. He told the woman at the desk that she MUST have her call my husband TODAY as this situation of our mother not being fed absolutely needed to be addressed THAT DAY. He received no call from the executive director. We were away for a couple of days for Thanksgiving and we got a call the day after the holiday that our mother died. The executive director has had the time to email and call us multiple times since her death attempting to get us to pay for the rent for her apartment for the month after her death while we were cleaning out her belongings. Her position is that the agreement that my mother signed states that rent is due for this period. We explained to her that as Brightview did not keep up their end of the agreement by not keeping our mother safe from being injured, not protecting her from the disappearance of her most important possessions and not giving her the most basic care (meals) that they did not keep up their end of the agreement. She stated that she was going to send the bill to a collection agency. He called the corporate offices of Brightview multiple times to try to resolve this and have received no response after 2 weeks.

Brightview was such a wonderful place for my Mom. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and truly cared for her well-being. Sierra at the front desk was absolutely amazing, and my Mom bonded with her immediately. She always lit up when she saw her.<br><br>I also want to give special thanks to Melanie from Senior Helpers. I heard she's no longer there, which I'm sure is devastating to the many residents she helped. Melanie was a unicorn of a person. She went above and beyond in every way, providing care for my Mom with the kind of dedication and compassion you would hope for in a family member. I honestly feel she played a role in saving my Mom’s life with her attentiveness and care. If I could clone her we would :)<br><br>The level of attention, warmth, and professionalism was truly rare. I felt so grateful that my Mom was in such loving hands during her time there in independent living.
