*Posted on behalf of my mother, Brenda Emery.* OUTSTANDING! That's how I would describe Bedford Specialty Care, in Bedford, IA. Accepting the fact that a loved one needs care you are no longer able to provide is heartbreaking; finding the perfect place for them to receive such care is beyond tough. Thankfully, a good friend referred us to Bedford Specialty Care when we were faced with these decisions for my mother. I was drawn to so many aspects of this facility (size, low staff turnover, activities, etc.), but the most important being the quality of care that residents receive -- this was evident the minute I walked through the door for the first time. They care! And what's so impressive is the genuine compassion for each resident that is extended from every department...I'm talking administrators and therapists, to nurses and aids, to cooks and dietitians, to custodians and laundry attendants. That's a gift! My mother passed away one month ago, and we miss her dearly. As I reflect on her time at Bedford Specialty Care, I am so grateful she spent 8 months there, and I also realize just how much I miss the staff and residents, as well...they were family. - Brenda
