I love the renovations that have been done so far! Bay Harbor is looking very refreshed and updated. I'm looking forward to seeing the changes in the resident's rooms. My brother is there, so I visit from out of state. The staff is professional and friendly. I was able to get questions answered by his Lead RN.

Please do not take your loved ones to this facility. The quality of care is extremely low, communication is nonexistent and oversight is very poor. My stepfather's phone was stolen within hours of his death in the middle of the night. His roommate was immobile and incapable of taking it. This theft was just the final act of disregard. If you must take a loved one there, I strongly recommend that you be present daily. There were a few competent and caring nurses but they were the exception. The Administrator offered to compensate us for the phone but that was not the point. We did not take compensation.

Today I needed to speak with nursing staff. The one nurse called the unit nurse manager and within 15 minutes or so she walked in my brother’s room. She was very apologetic that I had not been notified that an IV had been put in and that I didn’t know why. She took time to explain what had transpired and the goal for him. All I can say is staff appear to have empathy for the residents and recognize they are human and have feelings too. In the last year or so the care of the residents has truly changed for the better

My mother was there for about a month or so. She needed to be able to maneuver steps to be able to go home. Not once did she have PT to see if she could maneuver steps other than short steps in the gym, they are not realistic at all. I was there almost every day and got to see and experience what happens and doesn’t happen different times of the day and different days of the week. The weekends are horrible. The smell hits you in the face as soon as you walk up into the hallway where the rooms are. Sometimes they didn’t have water and many times if the one person ( Brittney) wasn’t there who was on top of everything, my mom was afraid to ask or she would be received very nastily. I was there at least twice when the evening nurse would be giving my mother her meds for the evening, my mom would ask what was in the little cup and something would be in there she wasn’t supposed to be taking and the nurse would just stick her unloved finger in there and get the med out. That is disgusting and the nurse really should know better. Maybe this is why illness runs rampant in the places.

I would like to thank Dorothy Haley for all her help while I was a patient at Bay Harbor. She checked on me daily and was always there when I needed anything at all. I really appreciate all that you did for me. They need more employees like her there!!! Also I would like to thank Ms Alfreda my physical therapist. She was also wonderful and always there to lend a helping hand where needed without hesitation!!!! And Thank you to Tracey Hatton Hughes for making sure my stay was accommodated for me to be comfortable while I was there. I appreciate these ladies for all that they did. Sending my blessings to all of you.
