Rio Vista Post Acute is a step above all other facilities I have spent time in. Rio Vista is a wonderful place to recover and recuperate. Therapy is a lively environment with some of the best therapists to help loved ones reach their goals and get stronger. The food is good, fresh, and there are always choices. Activities are numerous and fun. The care is exceptional and the nursing staff are attentive and helpful. I recommend Rio Vista if your loved one needs a skilled nursing facility with a great environment to recover in!

I would like to recognize CNA Dowana for the exceptional care and kindness she showed my mother during her stay at this facility. My mom had never been in this type of place and hearing my mom express the compassion and patience Dowana showed her goes a long way. I’m not one for writing reviews but when given the opportunity to share the love of others I didn’t feel I had a choice. My mom said she greeted her with a smile, offered encouragement to get home faster and consistently went above and beyond to ensure she was comfortable and well cared for during her stay. So thank you Dowana for the compassion and love you have for others.

Renae in Activities Department is an awesome staff provider. She has been so helpful in my regaining my strength while a resident here. She is to be commended for being thoughtful and patient in every request. I sincerely thank her the others in this department. I also wish to thank Victoria in Case Management for her exceptional help in getting my case handled. She was extremely supportive in each step needed. I also want to say sincere thanks and appreciation for the very thoughtful care provided be Dawanna,CNA at Room 16. Her care was above all I could have expected. ​My father has been at AZ Rio Vista for only one week, and the level of neglect we have witnessed is staggering. My dad is fully capable of advocating for himself; he knows how to use his call button and does so when he needs help. However, the nursing staff consistently ignores his calls. I have personally watched staff members lean over tables chatting with colleagues while my father’s light stayed on. When I finally stepped in to insist they check on him, I was met with blatant attitude-as if asking them to do their jobs was an imposition. ​The most horrific part is the lack of basic hygiene. My father was left for seven straight days without a shower. I specifically confirmed with a nurse on Friday (his scheduled day) that he would be bathed. They looked me in the eye, confirmed it, and I thanked them. They lied. My father called me later to say it never happened. When he begged for a shower on Saturday, he was told, "No, only on your scheduled days." ​Think about that: a human being sitting in his own filth and urine for a week, and the staff’s response to his plea for dignity is "Oh well." He will be transferring. I will file a complaint to my insurance and owner of this facility. These patients are vulnerable and disabled, but they are still people. They deserve their basic rights and their dignity. If you care about your loved one’s well-being, do not send them here. AZ Rio Vista: SHAME on your staff. You must do better!!!
