My mom is at Avir At Beaumont. All of her therapist are outstanding. She came to Avir from Baptist Hospital. She was bedridden. She couldn’t feed herself. She could not walk and her speech was slow and weak. With the help of the therapist she can stand on her own and walk. She can feed herself. Her speech is much better. The nurses and staff are so nice to my mom

My name is James Bass when I first arrived at Birchwood of Beaumont but through the care I received from this nice nurse encouraging me and letting me know I was going to make it I now have life here at the Birchwood. The therapy department has been great they've been working me out everyday and I'm able to move around and do day-to-day activities thank you Birchwood

I recently had to move my mom to a new SNF. The previous place was neglecting her and she lost 20 lbs and had developed a bed sore. Birchwood is the place I chose after doing a walk through on a Friday morning. What stood out to me was the overwhelming response of all employees that I asked how they liked their job. Every single person responded that they loved their job. After inquiring about the pay I found that Birchwood consistently paid over a $1 an hour more than other area nursing facilities. The facility is large and clean and full of activity during the day. The staff makes a huge effort to bring as many residents to the dining hall for each meal and has plenty of people available to serve and help feed the residents who need help eating. They actively check the amount of food eaten. And the food is usually really good. I have eaten here with my mom several times and always enjoyed the meal. After moving my mom their was a wound care nurse who immediately took charge and supervised the healing of my mom’s bed sore. After 2 months I can tell you that my mom has dramatically improved and is eating her meals and getting to know staff and other residents and enjoying her time here. I do not worry about my mom when I can’t be here and have confidence that Birchwood will take care of her better than any other SNF in this area. Thanks to all employees and residents of Birchwood for helping me take care of my mom.

Birchwood is a great place. We've had to generations come through this facility, now my brother is here and I feel like mom is watching over him. They are very trust worthy and polite. They have a wonderful staff. I have been very pleased. Out of all the nursing homes, this by far is the best.

Only give 1 star because this place is terrible! The therapist are awesome, but if you do not have a medical background and can't truly stay on the staff , then please do not place your loved one here. I reported this facility to the state for several reasons. Most, not all, but most of the nurses are incompetent. The CNAs required training by the Physical Therapist on how to safely transfer my mother. Call light is not answered for hours, sometimes not at all. I would find my mother soaking wet with urine in the morning when I arrived. Her treatment for a bladder infection was delayed, she did not consistently receive the diet ordered for her, the phones are not answered, you cannot ever speak with anyone in management unless you physically go to the facility. Even then, they are more than likely unavailable. At discharge I was told her new prescriptions would be sent to her pharmacy. Didn't happen. So she ran out of blood pressure medicine and I had to page her doctor on a Saturday to get it refilled. This facility is poorly managed, with an incompetent nursing staff. I truly don't know how they are allowed to remain open. Again!! Beware!! Do NOT place your loved one here if you care about them!! Not only did it traumatize my mother, but it was a very stressful experience for me. I am a Registered Nurse so I have professional experience, and this place is dangerous!! BEWARE!!
