Spent three months in rehab at Aviata. Nurses Wendy, Nancy, Keeona, Sunshine and Marsha were terrific. CNA's Diana, Isiael, Davoncia, Norris, Daylisia and Oscar (please forgive any misspelling of names)were very caring and took great care of me. Susan the Director of Patient Experience, is such a breath of fresh air! She truly cares about the patients and she just makes you feel you're not alone while being in a place that can sometimes be very lonely. The best part is the therapy department! I can't say enough great things about them. Clarice, Doreen, Eder, Roweena and John are the absolute BEST! I couldn't stand or walk when I came to Aviata. This therapy team helped me learn to stand and walk again. They are kind and compassionate, but they will encourage you and work you to get better. I could not have ask for a better group of therapists! Thank you!

Diamond in the rough! Recently I was tasked with touring 5 different nursing homes as my wife’s mother was needing long term care. Quite frankly all 5 facilities had very similar services and also were similar in facility layouts. However, it became abundantly clear when it came to PERSONNEL there is where I found a noticeable difference. From the receptionist that greeted me, the associate that gave me the tour and all the up to the Director of the facility, the people were the difference. My entire experience was awesome. Tene, Christina Rose and Slade were kind, caring and informative. That’s when I knew this place was the diamond in the rough. Fast forward 2 weeks. My mother in law is very happy with everything and everyone there. Aviata on Santa Barbara has my strongest recommendation. During my wife’s most chaotic time they found a way to make this transition easy. I can’t thank you enough. If I could give you 50 stars I would and you would have earned them. From the moment my mom arrived, she was attended to medically. She came from back to back hospitalizations with a negative experience at a different physical therapy center that did not put interest in her care. At Aviata on Santa Barbara, she was properly triaged upon arriving by a Haitian nurse, whose name I did not get. She felt comfortable with him and was comforted when he spoke Spanish to her. I think as well, the diverse staff, including those she was familiar with in Miami, help her connect as she acclimated. In less than a week, I see so much progress as the physical therapy team is helping her regain her confidence. She has spinal fusion surgery and has become fearful to walk, that is further compounded by her physical considerations and a weak knee. Nonetheless and despite her yelling for help from her bed, a trauma response from the hospital who operated her initially and left her on a stretcher in a room with no call button or urine bag post op, she developed this survival response. I found that expressing this helps the staff exercise emotional intelligence in simply reassuring her, she is in a safe place and they are building her confidence and that trust, that I believe will subside the response. She hasn’t walked in three months or showered, and the team here helped us get those things going, and I feel hopeful that I will be able to get us on a cruise to PR to meet with her friends in San Juan. I will adjust my review to provide names of the kind-hearted and patient professionals helping my mom get to the other side of this. Jon Martone is the only full name I have at the moment and leads the physical therapy team. Do not let his youthful appearance fool you. He brings the right experience, with his team, to help people tap into their inner strength. Today I saw my mom walk and get encouragement to dig deep to push beyond her comfort zone to her potential. I will update my review to include the names of all I can recall that have assisted in what I feel is a miracle. Gracias a todos los que nos ayudan atravesar esta etapa donde me sentí vencida. Cordialmente, Sarah, la hija de Ana

My Mother had the pleasure of being at this facility after me taking her out of a horrific facility. Everyone went above and beyond. On the way to the facility in the transportation vehicle I received a call from Slade, the facility administrator welcoming me and my mother and assuring me, my mother would be cared for. Upon arrival everyone was kind , loving and welcoming . Well, Slade kept her promise , not one day went by without someone from the facility reaching out to me to update me on my mother’s condition. My Mother hadn’t eaten at the prior facility and lost 14 pounds , Slade went into the room and spoke to my mother to ask her what she likes to eat, she then walked across the street and purchased my mother yogurt and sat next to her bed and talked with her as she ate. I can’t not say enough good things about everyone in the facility, from the administration to the housekeepers. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart . I will forever be grateful. I truly believe this facility is top notch and goes above and beyond to make sure their residents are loved and cared for!
