When you first walk in the place, it is beautiful and you think you’re in a top-notch facility. Boy were we wrong!!
The first night we moved my mother in, it was a two hour wait before somebody came to her room after she was dropped off by the ambulance.
They claimed to have her taken vitals (on a handwritten piece of paper) that were not even my mom‘s vitals. We know this for a fact because we never left my mothers side for those two hours waiting to be “welcomed “.

My whole family felt invisible when visiting. The employees, nurses, receptionists, office people, were not friendly. No-one would pick their head up, make eye contact, or say hello as you’re waking down the halls. Nurses are at their station and call lights are going off. There wasn’t a care in the world from people calling for help (and my mom being one of them).
It definitely was not a welcoming place.

Her nightgowns were lost for two days and I had to hunt them down myself. Meanwhile she was sleeping in her blouse for 2 nights. The gentleman told me he would follow up with me in the morning and he never did.

I was told before we moved her in that she would have a dinner waiting for her, and her medical supplies would be taken care of. Neither of these things happened. She had no dinner and her supplies came six days after she moved in.
We were also told they were going to adjust her wheelchair, and I asked three times and it never happened.
My mother pushed the call button several times and laid there for quite some time every time she pushed it.
There was an incident when my mom needed some help to put cream on her and the nurse said she was going to lunch and would send somebody else. My mom said she just didn’t want to do it. She pushed the button several times and they kept turning it off. It took almost 2 hours for somebody to come help her.
My mom called me at home to have me call a nurse, she was pushing her button and calling for help, and no one was coming. And I was just getting passed around on the phone.

At one point, we asked that she be moved closer to the nurses station so they can hear when she calls. We did move her, but it didn’t make much of a difference.

We realized after two days that her call button was not working. They claimed to have fixed it and the next day we tried it again. It still was not working. So they gave my mom a cowbell.
Wouldn’t you think this would be something that should be checked out before moving a new person into the room?

A couple times she never got the meal that she ordered, let alone a complete meal. There was always something missing or cold.

Yes, all these issues were addressed with the people in charge. There was excuse after excuse for whatever we needed that wasn’t taken care of. We were told so and so was on vacation, off for the day, just coming off a shift, etc.

I would get there early afternoon and she still had her breakfast tray and her lunch tray still in her room.
Sometimes I would come late morning and her blinds were still closed. Why couldn’t an aid or somebody open these for her since she couldn’t get out of bed.

The only thing that they got right was at discharge, they had everything ready to go.
They probably couldn’t wait for us to leave and we certainly couldn’t wait to get out of here.
It was a horrible two weeks.
