April 01, 2025 I am writing to express my appreciation and gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the nursing team, of Christina, Henry, Kirstin and physical therapist Leelonni, through Aveanna Home Health in Newark, Delaware. When theyc treated me, at my home, they had shown remarkable compassion, professionalism, and skill. Particularly, the team’s bedside manner and empathy made all the difference in a sensitive situation I faced. I had a wound that required attention, and I was initially embarrassed by the need to expose a personal area. The nurses put me at ease with their respectful and kind approach. Additionally, my wound is healing nicely. I believe that this exceptional team deserves recognition. This place has been a challenge for me. Good news first, my father's nurse as well as his physical therapist have been great. The occupational therapist that he saw last week was also great. However there's an issue with communication. So much so I've had a conversation with Mr Porter the director. This by far was the worst of all experiences I had with the company. I was annoyed by the lack of communication as well as some no shows. I wasn't disrespectful there was no cursing and there was no yelling however I was annoyed with the lack of communication and reliability. He attempted to chastise me and advised me that I gave him too many scenarios to handle. He stated he can only handle one thing at a time. If he was listening the two concerns were reliability and communication. He obviously became overwhelmed and took the defense. His first response to my concerns was to tell me that we could go somewhere else for our services. As if that process wouldn't cause my father more delay with his healing journey. Yesterday I received the day before call from a new occupational therapist requesting to come today, Thursday. Although we were originally scheduled for tomorrow, friday. I agreed to 9:00am. Just before 10am today I decided to call her when no one showed up just to follow up. Ignoring the fact that she called me yesterday she just continuously said that she does visits on Friday, as if she didn't call the previous day to schedule the visit. I only have her contact information because she called yesterday. What was most frustrating is that she didn't immediately just apologized so we could move forward. I literally had to stop her and remind her that she called and scheduled the visit. As a primary caregiver to my father I only want what's best for him. My responsibilities go far beyond being available for these very important visits. I'm into building good and productive relationships with those who have to service him. It is unfortunate when there's a lack of professionalism and respect for others time. My father is also supposed to have a home health aide from this agency. One has yet to be assigned nor have they followed up with me regarding the matter. I guess I'll have to bring it up again. I'm looking forward to my father's healing and him getting back to his daily routines.
