Avante in Mount Dora has ongoing issues with cockroaches and flies, and like many other reviews mention: several staff members were rude and dismissive toward family concerns. My grandmother was denied bed rails and subsequently fell out of bed. We were told it was against policy to provide an incident report, and despite her age (98 years old) and condition (post-surgery, femur fracture), an ambulance was not called. Physical therapy ordered by her surgeon was ignored, and medications were also not provided as directed. After we insisted she be evaluated at the hospital, she was diagnosed with a blood clot in her lung, which doctors advised was likely related to prolonged immobility after surgery. Director of Nursing Taylor Parker was consistently confrontational, rude, and avoided meeting with family members regarding serious concerns. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this facility

My mom was just taken via ambulance from this disgusting place an hour ago. She never got her IV with her antibiotics. An IV the Dr said she needed until May 8. She received 1 breathing treatment earlier this morning and never got another one, even though it’s supposed to be every 6-8 hours. How do you not have a nurse or was the nurse too lazy to start the IV? They told my mom they were waiting for a phlebotomist to start the IV. Are you kidding me. I will be reporting this nasty place to the state. I wish I could give negative stars.

My time spent at Mount Dora has been nothing short of splendid. Being surrounded by such an incredible team makes every day meaningful. The staff creates a truly wonderful experience, and the level of customer service goes above and beyond. The care is patient centered and the definitely focus on the psychosocial wellbeing of the residents. From the beautiful amenities to the warm, welcoming spirit you feel the moment you walk in, this is a place that naturally brings smiles and makes people want to be here. Proud to be part of a team that sets the standard for excellence and heart in care. Avante strong.

As a healthcare provider myself, we had to emergently place my mother for a 5 day respite due to a family emergency. We had no choice in where she was placed. Upon visiting her during that time, I have never seen such deplorable care for our loved ones. When trying to call to get information, the employees do not even know who their residents are. I urge you, if you have a choice where to place your loved ones, whether it is respite or long term care, AVOID this place at all cost. This was supposed to be a help for our family, but turned out to be more worry and disgust for the care they give their residents. I have attempted to call the director of nursing or an administrator but no one answered. I am calling the Florida health department with my concerns about this place.

DONT EVER PUT A FAMILY MEMBER THERE. Roaches throughout the place. Employees don’t care. My mother was given 1 oz of fluid in 6 1/2 hours while I was there. Nursery and aides all hang around the nurses station and don’t even answer the phone! I thought their 2.1 star rating was a mistake. Yes it is it should be a zero !
