My father spent about two years in care at Avalon as he progressed through the final stages of dementia. The staff there provided the utmost care, helped keep him as comfortable as he could be given what he was going through and also kept us informed of any needs or new developments. He recently passed and I have been blown away by the outreach and attention that they have given even after he is no longer there. I live out of state, so the peace of mind that Cici, Sarah and all of the care team gave us was incalculable. Thank you all for what you do.

My mom has been at Avalon since July 2025. We picked Avalon due to the more home-like feel and comfort. The first thing I noticed was how happy and relaxed everyone was. The caretakers genuinely care and have taken excellent care of my mother. Some of the memory care facilities I toured were nice, but also felt overwhelming and too large. My mom can be very anxious, so a smaller place was a better fit for her. I like visiting and being around all the residents and caretakers. It genuinely feels like a family, and my mother has thrived there. She feels safe and has even said to me, “I want to introduce you to my family.” It eases my worries about her safety and well being. Dementia is hard, but I feel like there is so much support and friendship here. Avalon is a perfect fit for my mother and her needs.

Our dad lived at Avalon for five horrible months. During that time, his dementia seemed to be progressing so rapidly. In the first three months, he went from walking independently, talking, laughing, and engaging, to falling often, becoming wheelchair bound, and barely communicating. We realized his dementia couldn’t possibly be progressing that quickly – something else had to be going on. We put him on the waiting list at a different place. The day we moved him, he was nearly catatonic – he required assistance from two people to stand up, he couldn’t talk, and he was completely unresponsive. The first 48 hours at his new place, they watched him go through withdrawal. From what? Something off the books, because his prescribed medications were tracked by hospice. Within two days away from Avalon, he was walking, talking, and engaging again. Two days. This is a short summary of a volume of documentation we have from his months there. DO NOT entrust this place with your loved one.

Since Cecilia Garza, who goes by Cece, became the new director, the change at this memory care facility has been remarkable. She has truly turned the place around — from hiring a new cook to addressing staffing issues and holding people accountable. The facility and individual rooms are now consistently clean, the food is warm and good, and there is a noticeable sense of care and liveliness throughout the building. Most importantly, the residents are well cared for, and you can feel the difference in the atmosphere. I’m incredibly grateful for the improvements and the leadership Cece has brought.

The decision to place my family member in someone else’s care was a difficult one. The moment I met with Kiley, I was comfortable with my decision. The facility was clean, open floor plan , and the employees all had smiles. They quickly got to know my family member and took the time to account for his preferences, likes and dislikes. Spoke to him by name, always treating him with respect. Of the other facilities I visited, Avalon is hands down the best!
